Comments Thread For: Josh Taylor: I Make Weight, Piece Of Cake; Can Really Do My Whole Career At 140 If I Wanted

There will come a point in his career when Josh Taylor sets his sights on the elite welterweight fighters. That day will come on his terms, though, and at a point when he feels there is nothing less to accomplish at junior welterweight. For now, the plan in 2022 is to stick it out at his optimal weight, with England's Jack Catterall (26-0, 13KOs) next to challenge the reigning undisputed champion on February 26 at The SSE Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland.

Garcia and Haney will move up sooner or later and these are huge fights for Taylor whilst he is the A side holding all the belts. No point going up to be the B side.

He needs to stop fighting bums and fight Canelo at 168. I don’t wanna see a top p4p fighting bums like Khongsong and Jack Catheter anymore

He could fight Canelo at a catchtweight of 141 if Canelos man enough.

Taylor is really good, but he is a bit overrated. People saying he's the best British P4P fighter, but the kid ain't in Fury's class. If he went up to 147, Crawford would destroy him. As would 4-5 others. Honestly, if he went up to fight Kell Brook, I think he would get chocolate brownied by Special K. He wins on Saturday with ease though. Bit of a mismatch. Nash out.

I think he's underrated. He's beaten the best guys at 140lbs and is one of very few undefeated, undisputed champions in the sport. He's not winning controversially either, so I cannot imagine what anyone could say to diminish his standing in the sport. You're comparing him only to fighers above his weight class. When Taylor does eventually move up to WW, he'll have plenty of options to make great fights, and I believe he goes life and death with any of the top guys there. He's that good. As far as Fury goes, yes, he would lose to Fury if that's what you mean. As far as resumes go, Taylor has done more. Fury's biggest fans are the same people who disparage Fury's biggest wins (Klitschko, WIlder) as being a shot old guy and a one-dimensional nobody. How can he be such an an ATG if he never beat a worthwhile opponent?

Making weight has him thinking about a piece of cake.
