Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Kell Brook in 2014.

How would Floyd have done against the Brook that beat Porter?

I think Floyd wins a comfortable UD. Everything that Brook does well, Floyd does better.

I think Kell's size would pose some problems for Floyd. Who knows how it would have gone though

            Floyd wins.

Brook was an excellent talent at his best, but probably a bit orthodox and readable for Floyd. Kell was at his best reacting with his timing and Floyd wouldn’t give him much to work off. Pretty routine for Floyd once he figures him out quickly.

a Prime 2014 Brook beats prime Spence, Thurman etc. Floyd is levels above them

Crawford probably finds a way to beat Brook in a very good fight, prime for prime.

It’s light work for Mayweather. Brook doesn’t win a round. Seriously, what does Brook do better than Mayweather? Even Brook’s best assets like his jab, timing and accuracy absolutely pale in comparison to Mayweather’s.

                You think he beats Spence???

I rate you as a poster mate but Brook has never had an inside game. That’s why guys like Carson Jones gave him problems. Spence is a nightmare matchup for Brook, he matches him in size so he can’t clinch him like he did Porter and then presents problems Brook can’t deal with skill wise. I don’t think that fight plays out any different to what it did on the night.

I do think he beats Spence, i think Spence is very good, I don’t think he’s anything special though. Brook was beating him in almost every department for the first half of that fight. Dropping down two weight divisions killed him, and credit to Spence because he was good enough to capitalise on that, others wouldn’t have been. So I still give Spence credit for being able to make Brook pay for it,

not saying Brook would have rinsed him or anything, I just think the Brook that beat Porter would have had enough in the tank to edge Spence over 12, Spence would have his success too. It was just an awful decision to go back down two weight classes straight into that fight.

we’ll never know. Timing is everything and Spence got him at a good time, someone will probably get Spence at a good time one day, that’s boxing. Maybe Spence beats any version, I don’t think it’s a certainty either way.

Brook wasn’t beating him at all in their fight, he was never more than a round in front on any card. The British judge was the only guy to give Brook more than 4 rounds and I think that speaks for itself. Brook was holding his own but he was never in control of the fight.

Ironically, Spence was making “smart investments” to quote Floyd and they clearly paid dividends. Spence was working away to the body from round 1 and that clearly took the fight out of Brook, Brook may have been landing the more eye catching head shots in some rounds but the second half of the fight proved which shots were actually doing the damage.

They were very competitive over the first 6 or 7 rounds but then it became clear Brook couldn’t handle the pace or the relentless attack of Spence. Like many of our fighters Brook lacks an inside game and that was always going to be the deciding factor IMO.
