Comments Thread For: Kell Brook: No Disrespect To Khan, But It Felt So Easy In There

Manchester, England - A British boxing rivalry simmering for more than ten years finally came to the boil on Saturday night at the AO Arena, Manchester as Kell 'Special K' Brook (40-3, 28 KOs) channeled years of antagonism to stop Amir 'King' Khan (34-6, 21 KOs) in the sixth round, the referee stepping in to save Khan from further punishment.

    Extremely one sided

the hyped up commentary from Sky made it seem more exciting in real time and like Khan was doing something. Watch without commentary or even just a replay later and he landed about 2 right hands in 6 rounds

Brook saw every single shot coming and just walked him down and tore him
    up.

In reality, it was a mismatch, once you strip away the context of their history etc. if an undercard fight went the same way for 6 rounds, we would be calling it a pointless mismatch.

Brook seemed more focus than khan and wanted it more. The moment khan got hit it seemed like his confidence was gone

thought brook would stop him but didnt expect him to just beat the crap out of him from round 1. thought it would be usual khan fight where he is up on cards boxing well then gets clipped.

Khan looked petrified on his way from
the changing room to make his entrance. Never mind when he got hit.

Usually I never read much into it. Many fighters supposedly looked nervous but never mattered in the ring but this time it was clear

it was the fight Khan ducked for years, his own dad said on YouTube he was offered to fight Brook but took the Canelo fight. His own trainer Hunter said he won’t fight Brook

he may have fought better fighters like Canelo, but he was always more afraid to lose to big rival Brook in front of the British public. His nerves on his way from the dressing room was the realisation it was going to happen. The fight was over then.

Lol Khan is an IMBECILE and only has himself to blame. After losing to Lamont Peterson, he hired Virgil Hunter and had 5 impressive wins in a row of which 4 were against former world champions including Devon Alexander + Luis Collazo. He then decided to fight Canelo and get his fragile chin decimated (Virgil Hunter strongly advised him NOT to fight Canelo) when Brook was available and had just recently become the champ after beating Porter. Imagine if he’d fought Brook back then, he would’ve made loads of money and had a much better chance of winning then tonight as his speed against Alexander was blinding and his chin was still holding up (before Canelo destroyed it permanently).

Basically, he’s only got his own ****** ego to blame for choosing to fight elite fighters like Canelo + Crawford who he had zero chance of beating from the outset. Khan’s problem is that he thinks he’s a top p4p fighter hence why he decided to train with Freddie Roach who trained Pacquiao, Virgil Hunter who had Andre Ward and now Big Mac who trains Bud. However, he is anything but and unfortunately training with the best in the business doesn’t automatically rub off on you.

In summary, Khan was always a world class fighter (Olympic medalist, world champ + unified world champ) and has beaten plenty of other decent former world champs e.g. Alexander, Malignaggi, Barrera, Collazo, Judah, Maidana, Algeri etc. However, he was NEVER top 10 p4p material but unfortunately his ego couldn’t handle that which inevitably led to poor match making and left a messy end to a once promising career. The same goes for Brook who beat Porter but always fell short against the top p4p stars like Golovkin, Spence & Crawford.

Brook approached Khan as if his power wasn't an issue, and it would be just a matter of time before the fight would be stopped. Brook is the better boxer, but he looked a little slow, and he took too many clean shots from Khan. While I believe Brook looked in excellent physical condition, a victory over Khan should not be the bench marker when trying to decide whether his career should continue or not. Khan is an overrated and terrible boxer. While I've always wanted Brook to get in the ring and beat Khan up, I think Brook, if he's financially secure, should retire. It would be a great way to end a very good/respectable career.

It wasn't a good fight at all really. Great atmosphere though, so it made it a good event. Brook certainly has at least one more roll of the dice in him though. Brook vs Benn sells very well and would be a great fight. Nash out.

Have to agree, Khan looked like a beaten man heading through that back stage area! Personally I think Brook would have beaten any version of Khan and was the far more complete fighter. Id accept his record perhaps doesn’t suggest that though.
