It's now plain to see why Khan ran like a rat for so long.....

The only times he's really been cleaned out was by a monster Canelo shot, Danny Garcia's left hook and a big Breidis Prescott shot, all of which are shots that will put more or less anyone down and out at the respective weights if they connect flush no matter how hard their chins are. On the contrary, Khan's shown incredible heart and resilience at times, including tonight. His real problem is his weak defence and lack of boxing IQ. Breadman said in his most recent mailbag that he thinks Khan is probably the easiest fighter to set traps for out there and I think that really captures the real reason why he keeps getting hurt so frequently in fights. Tonight it felt like almost every serious punch Kell was landing with was a counter or a flush shot to the chin or temple, which feels like it's about par for the course when it comes to Khan fights. And when that's the case it's inevitable that you're going to get bashed around and badly hurt, even if you've got the beard of Ruslan Provodnikov combined with the heart of Arturo Gatti.
It is mostly that he cannot take shots on other parts of his head as well. When he gets hit, his body is short-circuited. Easiest way to put it, he cannot take a punch to the head well, whether on the chin, high on the head, jaw. But without the speed he once had, he has nothing but heart left and at a later age, that's not enough. He is done. Maybe he can get a final retirement fight against a lower top 20 fighter to go out on.
