Benavidez is there to be hit, and has been hurt by lesser guys than GGG. Benavidez hits like a mule but I don't think he hits hard enough to hurt GGG. I could see GGG's experience, work rate, and punching power coming into play here. GGG's closest fights were against guys who were light on their feet and had good footwork. By no means is Benavidez light on his feet.
As long as GGG still has the gas tank at age 40, he jabs Benavidez’s head off and really busts him up.

Benavidez is a big, strong dude with fast hands. Good combination puncher too, I’d definitely add that.

However, flat footed, slow feet, doesn’t really jab his way in, doesn’t effectively cut the ring off, isn’t the hardest to hit. I don’t see the hype either tbh.

He’s a better fighter than the guy I’m about to compare him to but he reminds me of Julio Cesar Chavez Jr when he was on the rise being hyped up by HBO as the future.

      Arguably in the first fight.

He took beating his life in the second fight. He escaped from the ring before the interview and audience booed him lmfao.

Ahh I almost forgot.. he also got hospitalized by Derevyanchenko.

So, he can't beat Benavidez at Benavidez's weight troll. Nice try though.

A teenage Benavidez gave GGG hard work in sparring. Today he is better than GGG ever was, much bigger and faster. He beats the hell out of GGG at 168 today, who struggled vs Derevyanchenko who is a 5'9 midget and you think he hurts Benavidez? He never even hurt him when he sparred him for years when david was a teenager.

Nah, I don't think he does. David's flawed but he's too big, too strong and a lot more fresh.

According to Abel Sanchez...Benavidez gave GGG a hard time while he was 15 years old during sparring and could beat both GGG and Canelo today. 10 years later, Benavidez is 25 years old and GGG will be 40 in about 10 weeks or so. My money's on Benavidez hands down.

Now that you mention it, yeah he does have some Jr in him. I think he’s a lot faster than Jr. like a more athletic version maybe.

Yeah Benavidez definitely has more attributes, definitely in terms of speed and power.

I’ve thought this for a while though, I remember when he fought Gavril and everybody was showing the highlight reel KO of Porky Medina and bigging him up as the next big thing and then he really struggled and probably should have lost.

Reminded me of when Chavez Jr had his first HBO headliner vs Zbik, he was being promoted heavily and he also badly struggled and arguably should have lost.

There’s definitely parallels between the two both in terms of style and career path.

Only a moron would compare bum chavez jnr to a prodigy like Benavidez who is the youngest ever SM champion. Gavril was a decent fighter, who put up a good fight but still lost clearly in a tight fight, and was white washed in the rematch.

My thing with David Benvidez and his fans and fantasy fights is why is he and his fans always calling out small ass dudes?
The fat **** can't even make SMW so forget fighting 40yr old MWs and take your ass to LHW where you will probably still struggle to make weight and fight someone your own damn size for once in your life!

Move up & go see Zurdo, Bivol, Beterbiev, Callum Smith etc lets see how good you really are because I see nothing impressive about walking down guys that are anything upto 30lbs smaller, in fact I find it lame as hell.

His career is not finished at 168. You could make your arguments vs many fighters who cut weight. David is pretty skinny, he is naturally smaller than Zurdo and more of a natural 168 fighter.
