I don’t think Taylor will move up. If Crawford leaves Top Rank (I think he will), that leaves Taylor with nothing at 147. That means he likely stays at 140 with the belts.

Crawford has left Top Rank. And Taylor will get a shot at Crawford as Crawford's next mandatory. It might not be Taylor's first fight at 147, in fact its doubtful it will be. But he's gauranteed the shot. Provided he doesn't lose to Catterall.

So you think Taylor will discard all of the belts at 140 in hopes that he might get a title shot at 147 someday? Agree to disagree?

It definitely wasn't a one sided beat down. The two knock downs won it for Taylor. All three judges had it 114-112. That's a close fight isn't it? I had it the same. Most of the rounds were competitive, and Ramirez was heroic getting off the canvas and coming back at Taylor. Certainly no quit in the guy.

He's said repeatedly that he wants to set new goals and targets, that he wants to become a 2 weight champion. He's just said it again in an interview with Max Kellerman on ESPN. He feels he's done everything at 140 and it'll only be mandatory after mandatory and he'll not get the fights he wants. He admits he makes weight easily and could be a career 140lbr but wants new challenges. And he recognizes he probably doesn't get Crawford right away and is prepared to earn his stripes at 147 in the meantime. It makes sense for him to go up to adjust as he needs to add strength as there are some huge 147 guys there. But his shot will come in the same way it did for Usyk. Provided he doesn't lose before then. This will definitely happen. I'm not saying definitely after Catterall, that's just an opinion, but it will definitely happen soon. I think he'll take a fight up there first, and then probably get his mandatory shot afterwards. But all opinions are respected, and if you feel otherwise then fair play to you. As long as we're getting tasty fights I'm happy.

Definitely no quit in him. But in my opinion it was 8-4 Taylor. Take away the 2 knockdown rounds, can we honestly say Ramirez won 6 out of the remaining 10? Not a chance imo. That was an average performance from Taylor, who should have closed it out but his hands were damaged. Ramirez was brave but simply not good enough. And I believe in a rematch Taylor stops him. But I have all the respect in the world for Ramirez and respect your opinion also.

Naw, I'm not feeling this at all. Man up and fight people your own size and better comp. Ramirez, Taylor & Prograis should all be at 147.

All of this might be true but two points. If Crawford’s gone, Top Rank simply doesn’t have the fighters at 147 for much new challenges for Taylor. I still can’t see Taylor dropping all of those belts he worked hard for to try to get a shot at 147 someday.

Why? Not sure about Prograis but I’ve never heard of Ramirez or Taylor having problems making 140.

Your right. He'll be in the same position Crawford has been in. Vergil Ortiz would be in the same position also if he beats Crawford. Unless your with PBC there's very little room to manouvre. Maybe he tries to win a belt and go back down. Like Canelo has done in the past. I don't necessarily think he'll vacate them, but if he's not defending them he'll be stripped. After the Catterall fight we'll find out. The WBC will immediately order a mandatory against Jose Zepeda. If he doesn't take that he'll be stripped. But he definitely wants to move up. It's just a matter of time.
