  • Comments Thread For: The Unprecedented Popularity Of Heavyweight Prospect Johnny Fisher

By Corey Erdman - If you were watching this past Saturday's Matchroom Boxing offering on DAZN, you might have noticed something a little unusual. Although the crowd was engaged in the main event between Danny Jacobs and John Ryder, two top-level super middleweights, they were significantly more enthusiastic for the fight that directly preceded it.

he is only 22 years of age and has had 10 entry level amateur fights. and then he turns pro........thats idiotic. his team obviously know he doesnt have the talent, otherwise they would have kept him amateur. they just want to cash out.

I agree, he is a truly terrible boxer, however popular he is. Wild swings only, no jab, no hint of a boxing IQ... I wish him well but this is a hype job and is not going to end well soon enough

A hype job would mean people were hyping him.

He's just a domestic level fighter, not every fighter is an elite level world champ.

Once he loses his 0, which will happen at quite a low level, people will lose interest, just as they will have with Steve Robinson (Ivan Drago) who lost his 0 recently to a bum. I hope Fisher is making the most of it all while it lasts, as it will all come crashing down before he has made any real coin. Nash out.

Dude is only after a domestic title though....so more power to him.

He might want to think about localizing elsewhere though. British titles might be the most difficult to get at HW atm, out of the domestic titles. If dude was like "Just trying to get that FECARBOX title" or some such would be much easier.

I reckon it's a fine **** goal for a fine **** fighter what knows he's too **** for the global scene. May you get yer lionsdale or whatever the ****, bud.

A win over Enguema is a decent start to the career & there are a few domestic level fights Fisher should make.
