They could just as easily not fight Morrell. Guys with names rarely bother fighting no named high risk low reward fighters. Nobody wanted to fight Hrgovic because there's better money elsewhere. Andrade doesn't want to fight Alimkhanuly for the same reason. If Ryder's smart he fights the winner of Andrade-Parker.

I'm just going off what the announcers said(something to the effect that this was an eliminator for WBA?(I know its hella confusing, the Wbas rules never make sense to me,they made it sound like Morrell was mandated to fight the winner?)

How about the far more likely theory that this potentially opens the door for a more lucrative Canelo vs Ryder match in the UK? Canelo has zero reason to rematch Jacobs but might potentially be coaxed to fight Ryder in the UK. The win over Jacobs places him high with both the WBA and WBC he's now got an official W over a name fighter, he's ranked #2 behind Canelo on Boxrec (which might impress some folk) and Canelo received some criticism for facing Mundo after most saw Ryder as having won their match-up.

In short Ryder can be sold as a legitish Canelo opponent - the narrative is already there.-That's if of course you really need to overthink it at all... after all it ain't like there's anything super unusual about the home fighter getting a controversial nod. I'm actually inclined not to read too much into it really, but if you must speculate I'd say Canelo rather than Morell would be the target.

I just think when Hearn is involved & theres a hometown robbery,it always makes me think Hearns behind it(or corrupt WBA whos in Als pocket,if thats the case, surely Al doesn't want no draw Jacobs v Morrell because the Uk angle sells).

(but you're right, maybe it is so Canelo can cherrypick ryder for a tuneup,it just seems like a done deal that Ryder v Morrell is next, otherwise why would he fight a Wba eliminator?)

Watched it well, round by round it was close, but I’m ok with the Ryder win.

a close fight can’t be a robbery since someone has to win a razor thin fight.

I personally thought it was a draw.

the Danny Jacobs that fought Ryder is a mere shadow of the Danny Jacobs that fought a young Canelo.

I think just about anyone at MW beats Jacobs right now. (and I like the guy)

Ryder was asleep for the first half of the fight. GGG, Charlo and even Boo-boo Andrade would have taken the fight to Jacobs and ended it early. Jacobs looked out of breath in a few of those later rounds any moment Ryder took it to him.

No Eddie Hearn/Wba might've very well wanted Ryder to win for different reasons,

For all we know the Wba wants Ryder v Morell instead of Jacobs because Jacobs is no draw & a loss for Pbc $$(& black v Cuban fights don't sell as well as Brits) ,& hes a threat to Hearn losing extra money on Ryder.

Hearn likely didn't want Jacobs to win & become Mandatory to Canelo his new cashcow inconveniencing him,the Wba surely wouldn't want anything that makes Canelo vacate & lose money on fees but this is the least of possible reasons admittedly.

Jacobs brings nothing to the table anymore monetarily & styles not fan friendly that alone is reason enough to rob him if you're either Hearn/Wba.
