Wouldn't most of his preceding fights have been the biggest fights of his career also? So by your reasoning he used plaster in most of his fights.

If you really think about it, you would use plaster against Shane before you would against Cotto. Marg had already seen Cotto hurt numerous times against much smaller guys. Corely, Torres, Zab and maybe a couple more. Shane has a granite chin, only seriously hurt against Forrest. With that said I think Marg probably used them against Cotto and even against many before Cotto.

At this point, just look at both guys' careers as of right now. Cotto is in the biggest fight of 2009 while Margarito's best years are falling behind him by the day without a guarantee that he'll actually return to the big stage. Who really caught that bad end of the stick on that one?

Look at what Tony did to Lujan, that's not usual. And that's before the consensus against him agrees he likely started packing plaster.



Want to think Tony was fighting clean against Cotto for the good of boxing. But I really don't know. Likely never will for 100% sure.
