NSB Pick Em 2022 MASTERTHREAD

I believe the term is squib - a small gunpowder explosive or firework - but wish granted.. Honestly I gave serious thought to not including Dubois vs Bryan, especially given the absurdly wide odds, but given there's nothing else meaningful this week and both are legit contenders (if you disregard the WBA World as a real belt) plus Mall vs Sulecki getting postponed next week seems like it makes sense.Comment

Yeah... it's actually not a bad call and I did kinda think of it but I also can't really justify two non-title, non-top 10 Pick Ems in the same week and thought that the Heavyweght bout was the more meaningful of the two given a win by Roamer would prove nothing beyond that Berlanga's super vulnerable - 37/8 year old Angulo ain't going anywhere close to the top win or lose, whereas Bryan and Dubious are both still genuine contenders.
On the flip side of course even the bookies have picked up on Edgars glaring defensive liabilities and make this quite an even fight considering whereas DDD is a ridiculously strong favourite given that Trevor's an unbeaten secondary title holder.
Tell ya what... I will put it on hold for a coupla hours and seek other opinions asgarth Mammoth NC Uppercut SteveM MikeyG MulaKO YoungManRumble SUBZER0ED .... and of course anyone else. Given a choice between Dubious vs Bryan and Roamer vs Berlanga which would you prefer to see as Pick Em?
Current odds are:
DDD -1300 Bryan +750
Berlanga -270 Angulo +205Comment

I would rather skip it to be honest. But I agree that if we want to have at least one fight, let's go with Dubois one. Even though I don't think a lot of guys would pick Bryan here. He doesn't seem impressive but I need to do some more studying on him. It is at least for regular belt and they are HWs.Comment

If we have to have a fight then I'd go with just the Dubois fight. ...... be good to have consistency when it comes to which fights get chosen.
I'm not mad if neither are in though
I'd rather have had the Cordina fight in last week which was for a genuine belt and no fight this week - is there a rule that says it's 3 fights tops any given weekend?Last edited by SteveM; 06-08-2022, 12:25 PM.Comment

Nah, there's no rule as such - if we get 4 or more compelling high level fights of a weekend we'll do 'em, I think we had 7 one weekend last year, but it's a case of balancing what the players want. Some people want more fights, others think we already do too many, plus on a personal note I've found the updating gets significantly trickier past 3 fights since I still do most of the adding up in my head and holding 4 figures plus multipliers in my head takes more concentration and I start to doubt myself more and spend loads of time double checking. If we have to have a fight then I'd go with just the Dubois fight. ...... be good to have consistency when it comes to which fights get chosen.

Generally if I want to 5 or 6 fights I'll split it into 2 seperate threads but 4 is kinda tricky... hard to justify an extra thread but also a bit of a pain in the ass.
