Damn, I'm only in 11th place. I've been making really good picks but I still can't get to the top. I never check to make sure that the correct amount of points have been given after each Pick'em. Do you guys double check the scores or do you recommend that we double check our own scores to make sure they're correct?

I think that your (relative) distance from the top depends on many people in the Top 10 having already used a lot of their multipliers (in some cases quite successfully, one should add... see Mammoth and Koba this last weekend).

To answer your question: yes, I do double check the points when I post the new standings on Sunday. Eventual discrepancies would in any case come out when Koba does the actual general update in the subsequent days.

In any case, I do recommend everybody to double check themselves, and report any issue. Errors may always happen.

Just to reiterate what Tatabanya told you really, firstly yes absolutely it's recommended that you check your scores... we do make every effort to get it right and especially with the full updates - when I actually get round to them - the whole system was designed to be fully checkable and back-checkable and completely transparent. On top of which the fact that we have Tatabanyas more regular updates as well as mine it gives us an extra layer of error checking. Nonetheless, yes, occasionally mistakes do creep in so it's strongly recommemnded you double check to make sure.

In your case however whilst your picking has been very good this year (in fact it was outstanding right up to your two misses on Ugas and Butaev) it seems like the biggest factor keeping you from the top places is the fact that you ain't using your multipliers, which seems to be a perennial issue of yours since I seem to recall reminding you about it late last year as well, although it was almost too late by then...

Shout out to a coupla players who might want to think about using up their multipliers before we run outta fights this year, you can't carry em over to next year and they ain't much good as Xmas presents to your nearest and dearest, Damn Wicked ... by my reckoning you could have been a serious contender or even possibly in the lead right now but with only possibly 5 or 6 fights depending on whether the Japanese pull together a decent end of year show you're now gonna be struggling to unload em all I think.
I know not everyone's as much a fan of the gamesmanship side of it and rather just focus on the picks rather than the multipliers but the way it's set up it's always going to be really difficult to hit the top spots without a judicious use of multipliers too. Anyways, there's still plenty of time left this year so I'd strongly recommend figuring your multipliers into your overall strategy... x3s where you're a sure as you can be that your gonna get at least the method right, x5s when you think there's at least a good shot of an underdog upset and so on.

        Best of luck man

        K

And, as always, look at Tatabanya's picks and do the opposite if you don't want to end in the final third of the standings...

Well.. with close to 50 years of watching boxing as of now, this year I still have to catch my first perfect pick!

Canelo KO Late is a pretty damn good pick going on recent fights - but now you have chosen it I feel more reassured with my pick for Bivol.

We are of the same vintage - saw my first fights with Harry Carpenter's Sportsnight on UK terrestial tv - Chris Finnegan and Ali (not together of course)

Have you calculated the points someone would have gotten so far this year doing that? you are a ways away from the bottom third - so try harder

Just a little look ahead to next week and I'm leaning towards a triple... obviously Charlo vs Castano II, but I also really like Boots vs Clayton and I think Yoka vs Bakole is likely to be a must see too. Both great matchups between two real quality propsects, one at Welter the other at Heavyweight... although it would be preferable if the Paris bout was a 12 rounder.

Thoughts? Opinions? Brought it up now so everyone could have a say, plus it gives those of us who like to research in a bit more depth ample time to look through the fighter footage.
