Whats the thoughts and opinions from you fellow viewers?

I think it is better than "Next Great Champ," but still no cigar.

I would appreciate toned down "family drama" (even though that would take away some of the casual viewer's interest, I am guessing thats what the Higher-ups think.)

I also would enjoy it more if they would stop committing the cardinal sin (which Next Champ committed also) of editing and "picking highlights" from the mainevent fights. Just Show the whole damn fight!

But, I'll be tuned in Thursday anyway...

I dont think they would be able to show the whole fight because of limited airtime, but its a whole lot better than the Next Great Champ. Its not great but good enough to keep watching. The Next Great Champ wasn't worth 1 minute of my life.

i was very surprised that that guy, forgot his name already beat Manfredo. manfredo it looked just wasnt getting off first. In the 2nd round he started poking his jab in his face and getting off first and it was an easy round for him. I liked the show, including the family parts. Its what being a fighter is all about and many times what they are fighting for. Believe me, a fighter with out the support of his family has a long and lonely road ahead. Once again I liked it and as i told you the fighters were far above the fighters delahoya garbage show had. These guys have talent and experience........Rockin'

Oh yeah, did you notice the lady beside me in my avatar on the show. Shes a cool lady and I am sure that they will focus on her at some point in the show.

I saw "The Contender", it was about ten times better than "The Next Great Champ". You can tell right away that the fighers are better and more experience. This guy Manfredo who just lost holds an N.A.B.O. title or something. Sucks for him though, his first loss was on national TV.

Another thing is that unlike in "The Next Great Champ" where they tend to exaggerate and overemphasize the fight highlights, "The Contender" just made it more direct and clear. Man, this show is da shyt. I'm looking forward to watching more episodes.

Thanks to these kind of shows, I look forward to boxing becoming a mainstream sport again.

I really liked it also. I was plesantly surprised when I saw that some real top notch fighters were going to be on there. I though it would be a bunch of no names. The Next Great Champ ****** and this is much better. I think the family stuff needs to be included and they shouldnt show the whole fight. You guys have to stop talking like hard core boxers. We are trying to get the casual fans attention and this will bring more of them to boxing. You think they just want to watch whole fights of guys they never heard of or know nothing about? When you show there background it makes you want to root for the guy. I really liked it and I predict Ishe to win

I think you are a corporate hack. I think that you were sent here by NBC to spy on us and see what we think about the contender. And even if you aren't I know the spies are out there reading this right now. I am talking to you spies!!! Watch out.

For once DLT I agree 100% with a post of yours, Scary huh?

I felt that this show was really a well put together program, everything from the fighters to the production was miles above the next great champ. I also thought that this fighter that pulled off the upset tonight, Gomez or something was biting off alot more than he could chew, and as boxing has proven time and time again you never know who's gonna win that's why they fight the fights. Ishe will be the favorite to win it all now that Manfredo Jr has been eliminated, but he should watch out there are some guys on there that can definately fight so it will be very interesting to see how it all plays out.

Also was it just me, or did anybody else feel kinda weird everytime they showed Najai Turpin, just knowing what happened a short while ago, creepy to me!
