It would be a nice matchup but I'm pretty sure Negrete retired after the Rios fight because of an eye injury. Think he wanted to go into other boxing ventures like managing fighters. He was a tough, scrappy fighter. His wars with Franco really put them on the map.

I know Blandon is the opponent but he's landed some nice combinations with bad intentions already.

Blandon is kind of frustrating - talented guy, but man he opens up when there’s nothing there, then freezes when Cuellar is right in front of him with his hands low.

Blandon already coming apart, throwing some shots that are just flailing his arms, no power at all. He’s just touching Cuellar trying to stop the assault. KO incoming I think.

That's what I've enjoyed most about this card all B side opponents came to win. One even did , most cards nowadays B side have no chance

Seeing him now, its crazy that I remember watching Rosendo Alvarez and his fights with Ricardo Lopez back in the day. Even tho I wanted Alvarez to win those fights, I spoke to enough people who knew Lopez and they all said dude was a class act.

I Cuellar let him off the hook there

Amen to that. Anymore most cards are packed with almost all showcase fights. Matchmaking like these fights tonight are what properly season and develop contenders. They also make for good cards.

Not every fight for a prospect has to be a ShoBox matchup against another prospect, but you can matchmake fights like this that give your fighter a true challenge that they should overcome.
