  • Comments Thread For: Hearn Open To Sign Crawford: "But We'd Struggle To Deliver Purses Terence Would Want Unless He Were Sensible"

Eddie Hearn has the intent to attract promotional free agent Terence Crawford to his Matchroom Boxing banner. Crawford's contract with Top Rank expired following the WBO welterweight champion's 10th round TKO win against Shawn Porter in November. Immediately after the fight, the Nebraska native said he was moving on from the promotional outfit, and in January, he further punctuated that statement and sued Top Rank for breach of contract and claimed racial bias.

The only realistic option for Crawford on DAZN is the winner of Ortiz/Mckinson.

Yeah, that’s what Crawford needs. To sign with a guy that has done a worse job with Andrade than even Arum did with Crawford.

Reality seems to be setting in for Bud. Arum had no problem saying he was losing money on him and Hearn is basically telling him he’ll work with him but he’ll pay him market value which is probably below what he’s been getting with Top Rank.
Haymon would be interested but he’s going to have to be realistic with what he expects to be paid outside of a Spence fight.

Sounds like Hearn's saying Crawford demands too much money.
Probably the one thing him and Arum agree on.

Sounds like Hearn is labeling PBC mostly a protection program - and he´s not wrong.

Crawford is quite an outstanding talent, but he has to realise, for various reasons, that he cannot demand huge purses like Canelo now, and Floyd and Pacquiao in the past.

It is true that PBC do have most of the top welterweights, and unfortunately their way of doing business doesn't benefit the sport a lot of the time.
