If he struggles with Barrios it's not a good look. This should be a tune-up and nothing more. Like a lot of fighters, a taste of success has weakened his motivation to stay on top. The upside is that if he does well against Barrios, he has a legit shot at beating either Ugas or Spence, especially since Spence is coming off a long layoff and is questionable fight to fight. I don't see him beating Crawford.

I want Barrios to pull it off but my money knows he's being set up for a loss. I figured it would go the distance but now I see Thurman by 9 or 10 round TKO. And then the damn Thurman forced hype will really piss me off. Because I know that all the Champions will ride the hype and fight him instead of Boots. And Im sure thats been the plan.Last edited by Wacked_Out; 02-03-2022, 01:16 PM.

There was a fun group of welterweights that looked to be emerging in the mid '10s, of which he couldve been the best of, but then they all kind of fell of. DSG- beat the older heads and the gate keepers, but couldn't get wins over any of the top group of his peers. Kell Brook, who I thought couldve unified within his peer group, got a little to gutsy and got his face broke at MW and never was the same. Porter, God bless him, fought everyone he could, but losing close to Thurman and Brook put him slightly behind them (still the best resume of the bunch in regards to fighting everyone).
Which left us with 'One-Time', whose inactivity really put so much value on his '0', that once he lost it, he ended up looking like a paper champion. I guess he could build his way back up to the spot he had, but by the time he could land a fight with a top 5 guy now he'd probably be pushing 35. I doubt he'd be on their level in his prime, especially not now with father time knocking on the door. Wish he would have fought Brook about 5 years back though.
