Bookies actually *** up often when it comes to the lower weight divisions and I dont think Rodriguez should be that much of a favorite.
It wasnt the bookies though. Cuadras opened as a 1.66 favourite and then a lot of money went on Rodriguez that the line moved to 1.30 rodriguez.

I dont agree with the current odds. Rodriguez is talented but he is moving up in weight, wasnt in camp training for a championship fight, has never been past 8 rounds and has never fought a top 10 rated fighter. Cuadras also has volume and power which a matchmaker should usually avoid in a prospects early career.

Yeah I remember that fight got derailed with the WBA interfering and ordering Bermudez to fight Hiroto Kyoguchi. Now Kyoguchi is out due to injury and has been replaced by Carlos Cañizales for a rematch.

I had no idea lighter weights get different treatment. Wonder why that is. You would think all boxing organizations would have equality but clearly they don’t

It's early days for Bam, but we've seen worse fighters get a shot. It's a big gamble but he's a talented kid, and Cuadras may have seen one war too many.
Bold decision for the WBC to give the green light on Rodriguez to fight Cuadras. Might be too soon for the kid but credit for him for stepping up and challenging himself. Win lose or draw this will be a rewarding experience for Bam

But a young, hungry, ready to go prospect is gonna jump at the chance. Also given politics in boxing, this is a quick and easy fight to make as its the same promoter. A deal wouldn't get done so quickly with a rival promoters fighter.
That’s so true. It’s funny how Rodriguez was going to fight Bermudez for his title only for the WBA to intervene and now look where it’s led him

The rankings move pretty quick due to the high activity in the lighterweights, then you factor that most champions and contenders from 105-122 have short careers, which bump the young talent up faster. Willingness like Jessie, also factors ; there is more money at the higher-weights so promoters are in no rush to put their prospects in with legit threats. The divisions move different.

For sure. To be fair, he has all the good rankings, but just 2 divisions down at 108. That's probably in the WBCs thinking.
