Because it is quite obvious at this point that Joshua has no intention of fighting Usyk anytime soon. And it's like anyone is paying him a step aside either. I feel a lack of a rematch clause would have allowed him to easily walk away abs build up his confidence and resume fighting the many up and comers on the heavyweight scene. Another emphatic loss to Usyk will have fundamental damage to his credibility and bargaining power. Especially if he loses in a similar fashion to how he lost in September.

OK, so you're saying that Joshua having the choice of fighting Usyk or not fighting him is biting him in the ass. I think we'll have to disagree on this.

With the rematch clause he gets the option of holding Usyk to a rematch if Joshua wants it, or not exercising the clause if he doesn't want it. I don't see how having more options available is somehow a negative.
