I like Martinez but he's too open when he throws his power punches I think Chocolatito is going to counter him and eventually stop him.

Heads are going to flying like crazy in this fight.

Gonzalez will block, parry and then accurately counter, I think that will sap Martinez’s energy and enthusiasm. Martinez is a very talented fighter but he’s never been in there with guy who can push him backwards, hurt him and consistently land shots on him like Gonzalez can.

Really good matchup though, kudos to DAZN for rescuing this card after Estrada pulled out.

Regardless of what happens in this fight, which is an excellent match up, it's nice to see a guy have the balls at a high level to not only take on a big challenge, but to do it on short notice with such a tall task in hand. That's some old school IDGAF attitude that is needed in today's boxing in an ERA of pricing yourself out and wanting everything to be in your favor in order to even consider taking on a big challenge. Respect!! Not only to Martin

Wow what an amazing replacement situation! Normally when this type of thing happens, it turns into a lesser event. This fight is almost better in a way. The element of surprise is at play, with a complete change in opponent (an opponent that most of us would say "it would be bad ass if he'd fight Martinez as a replacement!".... but doesn't actually happen). I love a rubber match of course. But I'm more interested in great matchmaking that pop up that I never saw coming!

As far as the fight itself..... Martinez is a warrior no doubt. Very fan friendly. The type of guy that any fan would want to see in a fight. A live dog, for certain. But against Chocolatito, I don't give him much chance. I think it may be more one sided than you'd expect in a fight of this magnitude. He's reckless with his defense. Tries to go toe to toe too much. And is coming up in weight a bit, although it's not much to cover. I didn't like the way he looked in a recent fight (not sure if it was his last fight, or the fight before that). He reminds me of a "Gatti" type fighter somewhat. And Choc will be the "Floyd" to annihilate him. I hope I'm wrong and it's a great fight.

(Disclaimer..... for those that read my posts from time to time, I'm not a Floyd bandwagoneer! I just used that analogy in this particular case because I could see this fight turning out similar)

Martinez is in for some ass whooping. Gonzalez is going to ruin him.

Props to Martinez for taking the fight. Always entertaining to watch but there's levels to this sport and Chocolatito is levels above Martinez and all will come to fruition come March 5. Can't believe Estrada got covid a second time. Wish him a speedy recovery. Hopefully the trilogy is not all at lost but that depends how this plays out as Chocolatito could announce his retirement which is okay as he is already a legend and hall of famer in my book.

This is fun!! Gonzalez is a big enough name he could have gone with a way lighter touch, so I hope boxing fans reward him. Props to Martinez as well. It is a no lose situation for him, as a good showing even in a loss will get his name to the public. But it is still a amazing way to enter a division.

I am leaning Martinez right now. Just do not like the miles on the odometer or the number of head on crashes in big fights for Chocolatito. But I reserve the right to waiver on this 30-40 times between now and the day before the fight....

Julio Cesar Martinez is defensively flawed, its unlikely that he makes it past 12 round with Roman Gonzalez, who set a compubox record at Superfly for throwing 2,529 punches in a championship fight vs. Juan Francisco Estrada, in their rematch last year.

Nevertheless, Julio Cesar Martinez is very determined, prime and will not hesitate ; he has fast-hands, a pretty good chin and launches looping unorthodox punches. His stamina is decent, however he does become complacent and his activity dramatically drops at times -- when that happens 'Chocolatito' is going to switch gears and come with everything.

This has the potential to be better than Estrada choco. They both come to **** so I don't see this fight going 12 rds .
