What, I'm not allowed to be amused by the hypocrisy of GGG fans ha? And yes, team GGG publicly passed on the trilogy saying they'd rather prioritize lower tier guys: https://www.boxingscene.com/golovkin...canelo--148381

He made for a horrible comedian in retirement and he’s gotten too long in the tooth to be used on Argentina tv as Hearththrob so this run is about the retirement fund. Love Martinez the fighter but folks have to look at this realistically. He only had two money fights. Two. His whole career and he spends a grip looking good.

Martinez was nice in his prime but his style (keeping hands down) and circling his opponent while he peppers them, that is not for a 40+ yr old. That is the hardest part in boxing. So many great ones were great with their style that could only be perfect in their prime years. Once that was over, their style was a huge detriment to them. Since they're so used to it and it was all they ever knew, if they can't change it, going into their aging years with that prime style is a huge risk. You're talking hands down or styles that reply on crazy quick reflexes which are no longer there. Can be very costly over 40 yrs old...

guess you didn’t read this part of the article you posted.

When we went to Canelo and said, ‘We’re ready,’ he said, ‘No, I don’t want to fight,’ and he disappeared and went and did whatever he wanted to do and refused to fight,” notes Banks, in a simplistic viewpoint given Alvarez’s level of opposition compared to Golovkin’s since their rematch. “

Sergio's the reason I joined boxingscene.

I don't wanna see him fight anymore, unless it's a novelty fight against someone who is not a real boxer like Anderson Silva or Chavez Jr.

His one shot KO win against feared Paul Williams put him on the map. That was one of the most impressive wins coming in a rematch that I’ve seen in a long time.

Unfortunately for him, his athletic and hands down style doesn’t age well. He will end up like Roy Jones Jr did. Getting KTFO.

He mentioned Golovkin in relation to Sergio Martinez.

You were the first one to bring up your secret mancrush Canelo. Like usual.

Hopefully his knees are ok now , it's still a bad idea though , the guy is 46 and his style relied a lot on reflexes and quickness. Those are things that go with age , Roy Jones Jr is a perfect example. You don't have to slow down much , every little bit adds up. I was always a fan of Martinez , he doesn't need the money so apparently he thinks he's still got it. Hopefully the night that he finds out that he doesn't won't be too brutal. Good luck Sergio.
