Gervonta fake too tho, he wants to be the best lightweight in the world but doesn’t wanna fight the best lightweights because they’re on other networks which ironically the bests lightweights are on the other networks smh that’s prolly the fakes shed ever said by a fighterComment

This is totally out of subject but let me ask you something. You’ve been here for many years and have seen hundreds of fights. Do you think it’s normal for a former flyweight to be able to move up 8 weight classes while retaining his punching power and be able to hurt physically bigger stronger men naturally ???
Now move forward in life, as the years go on, your metabolism slows down and you got money so you can eat right. You're getting older. The weight sticks to you A LOT easier. That's part of life and growing. You can spin it anyway you want because I know what you're eluding to. Fact is, he's never been busted, he's not the first to do this (though yes, to go through many weight categories where the lbs are like 4-5 difference) and he's had "respectable power" at WW. Not 1 punch KO. Heck, he hadn't scored a KO since Cotto in 2009 which was a 12rd stoppage (Cotto on his feet) prior to finally getting a stoppage in 2018 against Lucas who was just not in that fight (plus a smaller guy himself). There are question marks around Pac's power at WW that many overlook, but I don't. I just see him as a very skillful guy at WW who was able to tag fighters in ways they didn't like, but the power wasn't Tito Trinidad deadly... At 122lbs-135lbs I think Pac's power was at its best.
My point being though, I couldn't gain a lbs if I tried from around age 18-25. I was literally stuck at 165lbs at 6ft. I know I had an amazing metabolism because I was stuck at that and ate straight up junk food. Fast foods weekly, to nothing but carbs at home. Granted I worked out a lot so I'm sure that helped along with the metabolism. After 25 though, lbs started to stick to me. I recall at around 27-29 yrds old hitting 185lbs and I was like, oh damn! Now I'm over 35yrs old and maintaining a solid 215lbs and train hard at the gym. I probably can go higher if I didn't train because I eat a lot still (although a lot cleaner with a heavy basis on protein). It is just life and your body as it ages.Last edited by ELPacman; 01-20-2022, 08:59 AM.Comment

More than likely it can happen depending how close of a fight it is, but that is not the point. He's setting in an excuse in your mind so if his performance sucks or at worse he loses, you know why, because he has an "injury" going into the fight. So what does that mean if he won spectacular? Oh yeah, the injury wasn't an issue, it didn't turn up. What if he loses? Oh yeah, so I told you all a week ago I had this injury and yeah, it was terrible, man, so bad.
Honestly, it is one of the dumbest thing a fighter can say leading into a fight, period.
Do you still want to bet on him after he revealed an injury before the fight? Lol, if you knew Pacquiao had a shoulder injury before the Fraud Jr. fight, do you think people still would of bet their house on Pacquiao? Maybe their car, but not their house. Big difference.
An excuse after a loss is just as dumb.
Plus unless a fighting is better why would he care about how his words because a fight affects the bookies?Comment

Talking about injuries after a fight is something normal and common. Every fighter does it at some point in their career. Some are truth, some are excuse to lessen the loss. Eitherway, an after the fight excuse won't effect the bookies.Comment

Yes, I'm sure it matters for the boxing economics and places like Vegas. They live on the ********/betting. When huge fights come around, their revenue sky rockets. The last thing they want is for people to say, I'm not betting on that fight, the dude already said he's hurt, no chance he's going to win. Or perhaps everyone puts all their money on the opposite guy just because they know the other guy is injured. That is almost like corruption, if you know where to put the money because the guy revealed he cannot win beforehand.

They do not, but I'm sure it's part of the contract. Like when an actor signs up to play in a film, he has to sign to make sure he doesn't spoil it in any interviews after they're done shooting. That he does attend interviews to promote it, etc.
There has to be clauses with the promoters and venues to help up the revenue because in the end, everyone wants a piece of the pie. I highly doubt the venue if they're for ********, want the main event to say, "Hey everyone, don't bet on me because I'm injured and I'm not going to win!" Just sounds like bad business...Comment
