Comments Thread For: Ben Davison Shred Apart UK Trainers: 'They're Lazy...I Outwork Them'

Noted UK trainer Ben Davison does not have a particularly high opinion of his domestic colleagues in the trade. The 29-year-old Brit has emerged as one of the more accomplished coaches in the sport in recent years, and his relative youth does not exactly jibe with the traditional image of a trainer as a grizzled man in middle age. Davison's best known client is unified 140-pound champion Josh Taylor of Scotland.

“The reality is that the level of coaching is that poor in this country that I’ve been able to fast track.''
In addition to the mediocre instructors and coaches that UK produces, its only fair to acknowledge that the stock of boxers are crap too. I have not seen a impressive performance from Josh Taylor and he is considered the 'The Man' at jr. welterweight. Why cant Benn Davidson get Josh to make the 140 limit without having to expose himself at the weigh-ins? Why is Josh Taylor always battered and injured in close fights? Where is the masterclass by the so called 'undisputed' P4P jr. welterweight champion?

You look at 'Bud' Terence Crawford and coach Bomac and there you see true P4P greatness, then you look over at Josh Taylor and Ben Davidson and see a totally outclassed undermatched heavy underdog.

Thats because there are levels to this. Crawford hasn't even beat any close to Breidis.

Not going to say he is not a good trainer but I tell ya Freddy Roach was very critical of Davison following the first Wilder/Fury fight. He wanted Tyson to be more aggressive & use his size advantage to bully Wilder while Davison chose for Fury to come in at 256 & box. Well the result ended in a draw & Fury dumped Davison for the Kronk Gym who had him come in 20lbs heavier you his size. The result was 2 KOs of Wilder.

Well, Ben is only 29, full of vigour. He does seem to give technical advice in a corner, which is something that not many trainers do.

His comments about other british trainers, I can't comment on.

And yet Terence Crawford is the #1. welterweight in the world, favored by Vegas over P4P top 5 Errol Spence, and especially heavily favored over Josh Taylor, nobody at 140-147-154-160 beats TBC or would be pick with the bookies. #levels, indeed.

Peter Fury has Boxercise Ben absolutely rattled.

Most UK trainers didn’t have to suck off Daniel Kinahan just to get their foot in the door.
