Comments Thread For: Josh Taylor On Teofimo Lopez: He Was Never Undisputed In The First Place

Josh Taylor is not about to parrot what he feels is a false narrative. The undisputed 140-pound Scottish champion took exception to Teofimo Lopez's recent comment on social media that he "will become undisputed again," with "again" being the operative word.

Depending on what your definition of undisputed is?
If undisputed is 3 titles + 1 designation (Franchise), then yes, Teo was undisputed but he was the only one cuz the other-real undisputed guys all have 4 titles, not just 3 titles + 1 designation.

Taylor is right. Haney is the official WBC champion. that franchise crap caused the boxing community to miss a couple of good fights. Charlo vs Alvared and Haney vs Lomachenko. Taylor, Alvared and Fury are the only undisputed champion right now. The winner between Charlo and Castano rematch will be added to the undisputed list

When Teo was asked about this fight a few months back he was saying he wanted a catchweight, so he didn't seem to believe he could beat Taylor at 140. His confidence is probably even lower after that defeat. Realistically, he's gonna sit back and wait until Taylor moves up and a bunch of vacant belts are available.

Teo beat the man. He was undisputed in real boxing fans eyes. Period. Just as Kambo is.

Luke Campbell was number 1 contender for the WBA belt when Loma got ‘promoted’ to franchise which is why he got to fight him and not Haney. Haney was then effectively give the regular belt.

Whichever way the WBA dress it up and however many belts they invent purely to garner more commission, the top WBA fighter was Loma, so when Lopez beat him he beat the top WBA guy In the division. In my mind that made him undisputed. The WBA president has even gone on record to say so recently.

The franchise belt was invented so the WBA had yet another belt to extort fees from and so that Canelo didn’t have to defend against his mandatory because the WBA earns so much commission from his fights.

I have a problem with Arum saying, "win, lose, or draw," he wants to make Lopez vs. Pedraza! Sure, if Pedraza wins, make the fight! Great fight for PR Parade Weekend! However if Pedraza loses, why not Lopez vs. Barbosa? They've got a little beef going anyway, so make it happen! If Ramirez wins, that's also a better option than fighting Pedraza coming off a loss!
