Sad that they haven't learnt their lesson that delusion is not their friend. There is no question that Wilder is at the kind of age where you do have to be thinking about exiting the sport. He does have decent earning power and I'm sure they could cynically line up a couple of easyish fights to line his nest egg without greatly risking his health. And he was a long-running champ (with the caveat that he never had a single unification fight and his wins were, to a man, against an unimpressive bunch). So it is true that he has the choice of retiring wealthy having achieved something substantial in the sport or continuing on to increase his wealth even further.

What is absolutely delusional, though, is to say that if he stays in the game, he becomes a two-time HW champion. Not impossible, of course, but to state it as some kind of inevitable outcome is a ****** thing to say.

The important thing is to invest his money wisely. That's job #1, along with taking care of his daughter.

If he wants a few more paydays he can certainly get them. But if he wants to walk away without taking any more damage than he already has then that's acceptable too.

Wilder is in a lose lose situation,if he did retired his career looks like a comedy to hardcore fans . If he wins and tries for meaningful fights it’ll have to be with a top puncher because that’s the guys occupying the top positions or who’s going there . I don’t really like his chances ,he’s never defeated a top puncher with one shot power besides Breazeale but he wasn’t a top fighter . The only fighter that stands to gain from his retirement is Fury as the only guy to officially stop him .


Boxing fans should want to see him against , Mahkmudov, Joyce, Hrgovic, Yoka , DDD , Parker ,Ruiz , Sanchez ,Usyk A.J , that’s 10 guys right there so fighting one is almost unavoidable and all are problematic and represent a dangerous fight for him . A loss to any probably sinks his resume entirely but at least he went out swinging.
