  • Comments Thread For: Usyk Trainer: A Fight With Tyson Fury Would Be a Chess Match

Oleksandr Usyk's assistant coach, Sergey Lapin, believes a fight with WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury would be a "chess match." There is a huge size disparity, with Fury holding a tremendous physical edge over Usyk, who last year outboxed Anthony Joshua over twelve rounds to capture the IBF, IBO, WBA, WBO world titles.

Not really it can't be a chess match, Fury loses by default he was losing the "chess match" against Cunningham and had to resort to bullying and mauling.

He'll have to do the same against Usyk but his leg may be to good for him and the pace he may force Fury to work at could result in Fury gassing I know that sounds far fetched but Fury has an extremely low output and almost always controls engagements, so it'll certainly be an intriguing watch IF IT EVER HAPPENS.

I feel like Usyk in a good night and in shape can beat every boxer in the world right now aside from Fury. Fury's abilities combined with 280 pounds and 6'9 it's simply too much, almost a new category. That's what you call a Super HW. But he would make him run for his money tho.

Presumably Usyk would be switching to the Sicilian defence.

Tyson “Nandrolone” Fury will knock Usyk’s ass out. Usyk won’t be able to handle the force that PED cheat Fury’s 270lbs body when he uses the clinch, lean and rabbit punch strategy that demolished Wilder.

This fight won't even be close.

Fury will maul and bully Usyk to death, he knows how to use his size and strength in there and will walk through anything Usyk has to offer. He won't fight him scared like Joshua, Fury will go in to put a hurting on him.

I see Fury terminating a gassed Usyk in the 10th.

I don't care what excuse comforts you at night for him being outboxed by a midget who can't punch (even at cruiser)

My main point is the fat boy has never been made to work at uncomfortable pace, he's used to having his own way.

And let's not forget he was embarrassingly easy to hit for an extremely limited Wilder and he hasn't fought an opponent with a modicum of skill since Wlad and has looked defensively poor since his return.

My brother picked Usyk to beat AJ. I thought it’d be a slow start for both, and close the whole way. I figured AJ would be able to look like the bigger man and have Usyk moving all day. Winning on points by giving the right impression. Instead Usyk started fast and got offensive. He levees the straight left and looked confident. He moved all night, legs and head. I thought he’d get tired but he was on insane shake. AJ took little chances and had no adaptations.
Fury started slow vs Wilder in their last fight. If he’s up early Usyk can win vs Fury. I don’t expect him to land the left like he did on AJ, but if he can make Fury miss he can look better than him. I think it’s close to even odds. I don’t think Usyk will tire. Fury will have to think about winning each round right away. I have a feeling Fury might not be in best shape for this fight. If he comes in looking like he knows what he’s facing that will be a good sign. Controversial draw lol
