    As BoxingScene.com first reported, WBO light heavyweight world champion Joe Smith will make his first title defense against an unlikely contender Steve Geffrard on Saturday, Jan. 15 at Turning Stone Resort Casino and LIVE on ESPN and ESPN Deportes (simulcast on ESPN+) at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT.

      Was really looking forward to seeing Smith-Johnson. I will be at the fight next Saturday and hoping that I get to see a decent fight.

          Had to look this guy up, never heard of him. His last five opponents have 96 combined losses. I’m sure he’s well prepared. Smfh

              Fan ****ing Tastic. The Smith Jr. vs Johnson fight was the one fight I was looking forward to this month, and now it's turned to absolute ****. If this guy makes it to the third round I'll fall out of my chair. They couldn't find a better opponent? Come on ... who knows, maybe this will be a Rocky moment

                                      One of the articles mentioned he was preparing for a fight that was to happen around the same time and was in shape, one of the reasons for his selection.

                                      Hopefully he can give a decent account for himself and avoid injury.
