Comments Thread For: Leigh Wood vs. Michael Conlan Now Official: March 12 in Nottingham

Leigh Wood will make the first defense of the WBA belt he surprisingly won five months ago on March 12 in his hometown. Matchroom Boxing and DAZN jointly announced Friday that Wood's mandatory defense of the WBA world featherweight title against Michael Conlan will take place at Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham, England. The 33-year-old Wood will defend the WBA's secondary featherweight title against Northern Ireland's Conlan, the WBA's number one contender in the 126-pound division.

Rooting for Wood to win this one. Conlan is boring as hell.

so we have a wba super champ who doesnt fight at that weight and a battle for the reg champ who most dont even recognise as a world champ, way to go wba, u and the wbc surely must be awarded for bestowing confusion throughout the entire sport

Surprised they didn't go the St Patty's Day NYC route, but I guess Matchroom wanted their guy to get the fight at home, should be a good fight and fund atmosphere still

This one won't be boring. Wood has limited skills but he could punch through an oak door.
