I doubt there is a contract at this point. And we all know that when a fighter says " sign the contract " there is no contract. When there are contracts going about, they tend to go quiet, then surprise us with an announcement. That said I hope there are some negotiations on the go as I quite like this fight.Comment

Oscar said they were sending an offer. That's not confirmation of a contract. Eric said Garcia wants that fight, and he would rather he didn't. So that's not confirmation of a contract either. In fact Eric said of a meeting to discuss potential opponent's. If there was a contract, they wouldn't be discussing other opponents, as it would be Cruz who is the opponent. I'd like to see this fight though, so hopefully something can be worked out.Comment

Newsletter: The Fight Corner: Oscar De La Hoya wants Floyd Mayweather Jr. to stop tampering with Ryan Garcia
BY LANCE PUGMIRE
FEB. 26, 2019 11:50 AM PT
Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s familiarity with the NBA is no secret as the unbeaten, retired boxer is a constant courtside attendee at Staples Center for Lakers and Clippers games.
But now, according to a cease-and-desist letter filed by Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions, Mayweather has traipsed too closely to duplicating the same tampering line that found the Lakers’ LeBron James in hot water over his not-so-subtle tempting of New Orleans Pelicans star Anthony Davis.
Three sources unauthorized to speak publicly on the matter told The Times that attorneys for De La Hoya and Golden Boy have filed legal notification for Mayweather to stop what they perceive as tampering this month with Victorville’s unbeaten lightweight Ryan Garcia, De La Hoya’s top prospect.
After Garcia bypassed watching a Golden Boy card in Indio Feb. 9 to attend the WBA super-featherweight title defense by unbeaten Mayweather-promoted Gervonta Davis in Carson that same night, Mayweather said in a video that he had a deal for Garcia.
Instead of permitting a fight against Davis right now, Mayweather said on camera, he’d pay Garcia $200,000 if he can defeat Garcia’s former Mayweather-promoted sparring partner, Rolando Romero.
Then, over the weekend, a video surfaced showing Garcia attending a Mayweather weekend birthday party.
That was enough, Golden Boy declared in the letter, reminding Mayweather that Garcia is under contract with De La Hoya, and any further activity perceived as tampering could generate legal action.
Mayweather Promotions President Leonard Ellerbe was asked by The Times about his reaction to the letter, and he did not immediately respond.
Is that normal behavior??? Lol!

You have Oscar AND Eric in the article stating they were/are/did send Cruz an offer sooo...I get it though,Ryan blowing up the narrative that "he don't want that smoke" nonsense all of his detractors had been yapping about it just got put to bed. You"ll take Ellerbes word as gospel when he allegedly had/sent an offer to Ryan but won't allow yourself to believe Oscar/ Eric? Hard pill to swallow huh....Comment

No worries chief,we can differ on opinions or what he perceive in the ring. Cruz has a chin and tenacity I agree, but just that against the elite will not get it done more often than not. Don't think he hits thats hard as he's gone to decision in 6 of his past 7 fights. I think it was a case of Tank not being prepared for a fighter with his style and size coupled with Cruz having the fight of his life honestly. Let's hope a Ryan vs Cruz fight materializes so we can put this to rest.Comment

Well saying Kambosos vs Ryan would be a great fight and nothing more is a far cry from saying they working on an offer to Cruz right? Of course Oscar is going to mention that fight for Ryans,it's his job as a promoter to do so.Comment

I think the idea would be to beat Cruz better than Davis did, in order to try to use that to get the Davis fight potentially on. Davis people have no interest in Garcia right now, but if he impressed against Cruz, maybe that would change. But your logic is sound man.Comment

Surely, you gest? With Ryan's history, wouldn't you want guaranteed money if he suddenly pulled out the fight...AGAIN? Remember, Linares pulled out from an eliminator with Michel "Ali" Rivera, so Rivera needs a dance partner! That would be an excellent fight for Pitbull too, but nowhere near as big as fighting KingRy! However, letting that go for KingRy, and he bails, then what?
