I guess boing has no only ******est fans (generally) but also generally ****** writers.
How is Fitzsimmons ******? Writers have to acknowledge the circus for what orgs do. Nobody cares about the Franchise belts. It’s as weird as the WBC’s art belt gifts and the WBA’s honorable mention straps. I think you’re confused with what Fitzsimmons wrote and I assure you he would probably agree with whatever it is you’re crying about.

Mikey was showing his age and coming off a loss. A bigger guy beat him. Nobody thought Kambo would go twelve, much less win. People laughed at Kambosos' record, made light of his wins right here on the Scene. He was his only believer. I remember some horrible comments about Kambosos, that weren't made against Martin.

Good riddance. Garcia conducted his career like a halfwit.

Mikey Garcia was a former P4P Top 10 fighter who got embarrassingly outboxed by a completely unheralded Euro-level boxer/kickboxer. Hardcore boxing fans expected that Mikey's poor committment to the sport was going to catch up to him sooner or later, but nobody was picking Sandor Martin to be the guy to do it. Mikey would've gotten beat a whole lot worse by Regis Prograis or some other elite JWW/WW, but the way he got beat by a fairly basic boxer was what made it so shocking. I think GK's victory over Lopez was a pretty big upset too, and it was certainly a higher profile fight, but I agree that Sandor Martin's victory was the bigger upset because he was an absolute nobody before that fight.

No, I get that Mikey was a former somebody at 135 but that is who Mikey was. Mikey as a welter isn't having any important fights. This fight was a non event, a big "So What?" in the history of boxing. Usyk's and Kambosos' wins were pretty big deals in addition to being upsets.

Mikey's was just to big headed and ****y for his own good. It's a shame too because had he just stayed at Lightweight, he could of dominated and had such classic fights with Loma, Teofimo, Tank etc.

MIkey has the skills but not the size or frame for 147, he never should of moved up.

Mikey was my favourite fighter for a moment back in the day. I like his personify, though I don’t think he was ever committed as a pro fighter. He’s allowed to do it his way and I respect that and I think he does. This isn’t the biggest upset though. Anyone who knows Boxing knows that a blown up Mikey starting slow can lose to anybody. There’s only so much time in a fight. He’s been a part time fighter for years. He moved up weight classes without gaining a lick of muscle. The fact that people say that this was the upset of the year shows just how much people wanted to to like and support Mikey. He should retire and do what he really wants to do. He’d have to get in shape, get a killer instinct and rip off a bunch of spectacular wins to get people to care again.

Not really an upset if no one was watching or even cared about this fight.. Teo getting dropped and losing was way more of an upset

Kambosos turned a stacked division upside down with his upset of a young undefeated champion coming off a massive win. An inactive bloated Mikey coming off a loss , losing to Martin did nothing other than screw over Prograis.

It was quite the year for upsets.
