He CAN quit his job, but he shouldn't. Coffie was a C level fighter. There's plenty of guys sacrificing with day jobs plus 3+ hours in the gym afterwards, and they're in shape. He doesn't need to quit his day job to improve. He should be able to shift into a higher level of focus now. Quitting his day job won't do it. The economics of boxing won't be in his favor. I doubt Rice nets 100,000k after tax man, promoter, trainer, and manager get their cut, with some reports of his guaranteed purse being $50,000. He's got at least two to three more fights before he can start talking "quit the day job" dialogue. Consider this a lucrative side hustle for the time being, because he's still considered an opponent and not the A side.

Rice is big with a long jab, pretty durable and can crack. He's been put in tough (his losses have come to guys like Yoka, Makhmudov, McKean, etc who have a combined record of 75-1) and he's only been stopped twice.

If he dedicated himself to training, came in shape and changed his mindset from that of the opponent I think he could be a fringe contender. That's asking him to change alot of habits and behaviors late in the game however.

These moments, are one of the main reason I love this sport. People can literally control our own destiny with our hands. Great for rice. Hope he gets a great reward financially for it this year.

Since the 2000's on up I have never seen so many top heavyweights so out of shape. For the most part the top heavyweights from the previous generation were lean mean fighting machines.

This guy actually has personality, he made me lol when he gave a shout out to the strip club he bounces at. Hopefully he uses his money for training because he beat a 35yo with 5yrs of boxing experience.

Of course not everyone can do this but it's not as uncommon as people think. Duran went from 135 to 165. De la Hoya from 130 to 160. Pacquiao 115-150. As you can see , just talking about these 3 guys, it's all 30-35 lbs weight gains. And it's my belief, to be successful moving up you either need a body frame with either the width or height to make this happen. Duran had a perfect mix of both to move up along with his power in both hands. Obviously skill goes a long way too. Pacman had the width, his had a big frame . And he wasn't as short as people made him out to be . He was 5'6". Duran was 5'7 " not much difference. And nobody talks about Duran's move up in weight. Dela Hoya had the height . One thing common with all 3 is hand / combination speed and accuracy, and elite skill levels. Age also makes fighters gain weight. It's just natural. Age and bank account . Realistically these legends all had a " best " weight. I thought Pacman looked fantastic from 130-140. Duran from 135-147. And Dela Hoya 135-140. I never did like him as a Welterweight. To answer your question, yes it can be done without steroids. These guys are hall of famers , especially Duran and Pacman. Two fighters who fought in the most divisions. Successfully. I love Americans but I find the USA fight crowd is always looking for drama and conspiracies. In my mind, Pacquiao, Duran, and De la Hoya all fought clean. And we're never proven otherwise.
Lmao so you actually think pacquiao did it clean? Manny is one of my heroes because he gave most of his money to poor people but even I know he was dirty. Paulie Malignaggi, Shane Mosley , Floyd Mayweather jr, Floyd Mayweather sr , Miguel Cotto all exposed and questioned him already, but then again they’ve actually been in the ring themselves, you haven’t

Oscar got stopped by Bernard Hopkins because he went up in weight too much………..….Duran hot stopped as well. Pacquiao…a former flyweight fought big strong welterweights and didn’t get stopped by them, instead he got knocked out by Marquez who was probably also on steroids.Paulie Malignaggi, Shane Mosley , Floyd Mayweather jr, Floyd Mayweather sr , Miguel Cotto all exposed and questioned him already, but then again they’ve actually been in the ring themselves, you havent. Its funnier tho that theres ha not been another fighter run through 8 weight classes while refusing drug testing lol

Nah, keep your job, you are a journeyman with the record 15 - 6. You already fought some good guys and lost to all of them, so I guess it is not the time to quit the job.
