Comments Thread For: Chael Sonnen: Boxers Are Jealous of Jake Paul, Should Learn Self-Promotion From Him

MMA veteran and combat sports analyst Chael Sonnen believes a lot of boxers are jealous of Jake Paul's ongoing success in their sport. He's not wrong. Most boxers are terrible at self-promotion. You go online and fighters in the top 10 have less followers on Twitter than some of my family members, its crazy.

Is he? He can barely speak during interviews. His vocabulary is mind bobblingly low and he stutters.

I agree but Paul was a youtuber turned boxer so his following was already established. They definitely should talk trash more.

Also Happy new years best friend!!

The reason nobody names a boxer Jake should fight is that Jake is nowhere near the level of any "name" boxer. He's a novice.

Boxers should learn from Mayweather and Ali, how to promote themselves. Of course, Ali only fought the very best and it was a different era and business model.

But I think more than charisma, the fighters need a big signature victory to really get noticed.

Therein lies the rub, most of the possible big fights don't get made nowadays, or happens too late after the guys are way past their prime.

He was a Disney star/Youtuber with a massive platform before he even entered boxing, and because of his name he was able to box UFC and NBA guys instead of random no name boxers on his level of ability. Most boxers dont have that luxury.
