Canelo. top 10 boxing producing countries know him for quite some time. He’s finally hit a peak with popularity that was perhaps long overdue

I don't know even though I haven't been tuned into mainstream.

Has he crossed over like Tyson, Oscar, and Floyd did?

Tyson was unique because that was the advent of private networks in the USA doing great things with distro in the 80’s. DLH was more American Continent as was Floyd. I’d say Tyson, DLH and Canelo are more self made. Floyd was only relevant because he had Mexican boxers in DLH and Canelo to break records. He then pounced on PACQUIAO late. So yeah Canelo doing great things in the Latin American world because Duran and JCC vouche for him as well as his charity works having hype on social media.

RJJ wasn’t lucky to have Mexican dance partners in his era of PPV.

I don't know if Canelo has reached their level as yet. Might be because he struggles with Ingles.

I didn’t think about it that way. But boxing is predominantly an American sport atm. Nobody really follows boxing from Germany or Denmark… I hear more noise of Spanish boxers as of late more than Sturm. So Canelo appeals to the American Continent which is a world of Spanish not just English. The USA is the only country in the world with English and Spanish television powerhouses in sync.

                  This is a key point

Tyson’s outgoing personality and humor makes him endearing to Americans

American culture smile for no reason and say hello to strangers

Canelo Alvarez has no real compelling competition, no real rivalries because this era of middle-weight to light heavyweight boxing is below par. His next fight is up against, somebody who looks like he wants to take a picture with him for social media 'Makabu is far too matey matey for my liking'.

While Tyson Fury & Anthony Joshua have a whole host of characters and stories attached to their careers. This makes them and the heavyweight division as a whole, the main block busting attraction in the sport.
