There's no gun to your head. If it's not worth the money to you, so be it. I'm gonna have a great time Saturday night.Or........how about us fans who refuse to be strong armed by PBC into paying ppv prices,$40-$80 is irrelevant, for fights that Top Rank,GB and DAZN regularly gives us on basic cable/network TV? Tell your daddy Haymon to hurry tf up and secure a network deal so this bullshiet can come to an end.
Part of Haymon's network deal is that Fox wants PPVs. It gives them 4-5 hour shows that they can replay on cable a million times afterwards.Comment

You don't need a contract, surely this formal correspondence should be sufficient. Now put 1 million in to an escro. Get on with it chief I'm a busy man. You got 24 hours..Comment

That's the problem! As a fan of the sport,I WANT to be able to watch these fights and LIVE but I'm being denied that because I'm being forced into paying ppv prices to do so. I wanted to watch all of PBC's ppv fights last year and this coming year but paying what,$600-$700/yr is absolutely highway robbery is it not? And yes,I'm sure FOX is head over heels for Arreola/Ruiz,Ortiz vs Martin and Thurman vs Barrios type PPV's....give me a break.Comment

Boxing fans used to get fights like Tua-Ibeabuchi for free, now we have people arguing Ortiz-Martin is PPV worthy. Worlds gone mad.
I'd be surprised if this breaks 50k sales.Last edited by Robbie Barrett; 12-30-2021, 07:56 PM.Comment

It's not about the money,I can afford them and I'm not tacky enough to ask family and friends even if I couldn't. I'm not paying for these ppvs because all it does is encourage PBC to continue to strong arm us into grossly overpaying for thier content, simple as that.Originally posted by WBC WBA IBF
It's a $39 PPV. Have a few friends over and it's $10 per person for five hours of commercial free heavyweight action.
It works out well for Fox. It encourages people to download their app. They get paid a distribution fee for the PPV. More importantly, it creates a four hour show that the public perceives as a "premium" event that can then be replayed in full many many times on FS1 and FS2.Comment

You sound like my mom, who is just vehemently opposed to PPV no matter the fight or the price. It's certainly your right to "boycott" PPV, but people have been boycotting PPV for 40 years and it's not going anywhere. Before that there was closed circuit. At least with PPV a bunch of friends can split the show or take turns on who orders. In the closed circuit days, EVERYONE had to buy a ticket.
These guys get punched in the face for a living. They literally risk their life in the ring. You're not going to get big fights without paying in one form or another. PPV is a moral battle in your mind. That's cool. I'd rather have a good time on New Year's.Comment

That fight was on HBO, which had an MSRP of $15.99 back then. Adjusted for inflation, that's $28 now. An HBO broadcast would typically only be two fights. This PPV is FIVE fights.
It's way easier to get friends excited about a fight and want to have a party if it's a pay-per-view and not a two fight HBO telecast.

A subscription to a channel and a PPV are entirely different. That's like me claiming people pay Netflix just to watch scooby doo or whatever.
