Is Marquez Worthy?

My guess is that Floyd took the fight because he saw how big Pacquiao vs de la Hoya was (money wise). And since a lot of people thought Marquez beat Pacquiao and Mayweather beat de la Hoya, it would be an even bigger fight.

It's worth $10.00 and some beer to watch the fight, but this already has the feel of a letdown. A feeling that's been common to Floyd fights for years (since after Castillo I and II).

Give PBF credit for his fight against DeLaHoya....who needed to be beaten...but that's about it. Floyd is incredibly frustrating. It's sad.

So really, your post suggests that the thread title should be something similar to "Is Floyd really worthy?"

His lack of quality opposition has nothing to so with Marquez who has proven time and time again that he is the real deal and should not be underestimated.

as long as you understand that jmm is a tune up, you aren't going to be so mad about the fight. but then you probably won't buy the ppv.

Maybe Marquez can a lucky shot in, but nobody has been able to do the one shot thing to Floyd.....so the odds are way against it. It's gonna take somebody who has the ability to beat Floyd on points, or a true bomber, before any kind of fight will break out when Floyd is in the ring. Marquez is neither, therefore Marquez has no chance.

You are right of course. Marquez should never be underestimated and perhaps Floyd is the one that's not worthy. My point is the business decision of Floyd Mayweather, Jr. to fight another faded boxer for a paycheck. He's clearly the one in control, not Marquez.

Faded? Last I checked he K.O'd Casamayor, Juan Diaz...two who have never been knocked out before.

Yes. Marquez is past his prime.......OTHERWISE Floyd would not be fighting him. It was mentioned that this is a "tune up fight." I would say: A tune up for what??
