Vergil fastest route to a strap is WBO

Hearing a lot of criticism about Vergil Ortiz next opponent in Michael McKinson. However, this fight will be the WBO #1 VS #3 ranked welterweights for a mandatory position to challenge Bud later in 2022. If Vergil had gone the WBC route and accepted the Avanesyan eliminator, he be waiting over a year for his shot @ a belt. Spence is set to unify belts w/t Ugas in early 2022 the winner must then face the victor of Stanionis vs Butaev followed by the IBF mandatory and then the WBC mandatory turn would get his shot. That is well over a yr of fights before Vergil would receive a shot at Spence straps.

Makes sense to me. Some people are just chomping at the bits to accuse fighters of ducking.

You can't please everyone, no matter what you do. Granted, Michael McKinson is no world beater with a laughable knockout percentage of under 10 but Avanesyan was knocked out by a guy Ortiz already stopped. There is no perfect path.

He was picked for his VERY defensive style and him being a Southpaw to see how he would match up with Crawford. If he can't cut the ring off and get to this guy he has no chance in hell against Crawford. I get this the other guy added nothing to learn from.

Ortiz next for Crawford has been my prediction. This Mickinson camp will give him good southpaw work while Crawford waits for him. Going any route that leads to a PBC fighter is just a headache not worth the trouble.

Vergil gets washed by bud imo. He might make it interesting very early, bud kos him in 6 or 7. I like Ortiz, just think hes better off going the wba route

He will get destroyed by Crawford, he was better off going after Spence or Ugas if he beats Spence

Ortiz has one of the best, if not the best, jabs in boxing. I would not write him off against anyone.
