Looks like he was using his jab purely to draw a lead from Fox to open up his defence and land his bombs. I think once he’d tuned in to Fox he didn’t need the jab. He was so much faster drawing the lead and countering. I suspect when he does want to use his jab it will be a good one - what southpaw with footwork like that doesn’t?

As for the last bolded: the ones that fall in love with their power perhaps. Not saying that's him. I just thought there was a couple sequences in the 3rd round where it seemed like him just coming in with power was a little predictable...then Fox managed to steer him against the ropes and got off with a combo and I was thinking the jab might have disrupted that and he wouldn't have ended up there. And in the fights I've seen Alantez Fox, he doesn't have much resistance but it's seems hard to make it look all that good so I'm not really putting much into it, he got him out of there so good job.
Unfortunately, he is one of these young guys who already has a trinket so even though I know he's essentially a prospect, I also have an expectation that he should now be fighting top competition. I like what I see if I have to view him as a prospect...but if I have to look at him as a champ who now has to go fight top guys then the opinions become more critical that's allLast edited by LA_2_Vegas; 12-19-2021, 06:04 PM.Comment

Understand that. I think Morrell himself will think he is a contender who has to go after other dangerous contenders. He's come through that Cuban boxing system so the number of pro bouts he's had doesn't reflect how experienced & sleek he is in the ring. Rigondeaux won a world title in his 9th fight. Morrell might take a couple more but I could see him being ready by the end of 2022.Comment

That's not true and you know it. Hearn was chasing that fight. Getting fobbed of by DeCubas who was claiming he was waiting on word back from Al . Al don't work with Eddie. If DeCubas doesn't know that then he's ******. But he does know it. That's why it didn't happen and Hearn got fed up and got him a bigger fight.Comment

It's ironic how we have some big names in boxing , older than this guy and with a lot more fights and they're " not ready " for this or that fight and this guy is calling out everyone.Comment

Agreed. I was viewing him as a possible threat to Canelo at some point. It's clear he has the confidence, but he needs to progress, and I don't see Canelo type power either.Comment

He did. After he got fed up chasing it up and they showed no interest and the WBA not getting their finger out. Don't act like this doesn't happen. Like Batyr Achmedov not getting a rematch against Barrios. Haymon clicks his fingers and the WBA make it go away.Comment

This, wasn't the case. Hearns would have talk and talk, and still will be talking if that was the case. He didn't want ryder to be embarrassed by a 5 fights novice.Comment

Ok whatever. And I'm not saying Ryder wins. I'm pretty sure he doesn't. But I can't stand fighters coming out with that ' nobody will fight me ' crap, when clearly there are plenty who will. Ryder clearly being one of them. If he's gonna fight Jacobs, do you honestly think he wouldn't fight Morrell? Laughable.Comment
