        He simply do not know how to strike and defend instinctively in a boxing form so he miscalculated the positioning of his guard.

          You're conflating striking with boxing ie one aspect of striking. In a pure striking rules contest with kicks, knees, elbows boxers are gonna typically lose to Thai boxers, kickboxers and good MMA strikers.
