Benn vs Broner sells, and Benn isn't that good to be honest. That's why Eddie has mentioned guys like Guerrero and Ortiz, they were last half decent 10 years ago. Both those are far more done than Brook, Khan, and Broner. In theory, Algieri should be a tough test, but what does he have left and what's his motivation? The guy retired a while ago and then came back. I think since he likely still has one foot out of the door of boxing mindset, that if the going gets tough tonight with Benn's pressure, he might just look for an easy way out, head back home, cash the cheque and concentrate on his punditry.
I think Algieri needs to start well. If Benn gets on top straight away, this might turn into a bit of a non-contest. If Algieri builds up a lead and some confidence, then a potential "shock" could happen. I'm going with Benn though,. Active, ambitious, home crowd, home judges, vs a guy who was pretty good, but is semi-retired. Nash out.Comment

Look at who Benn has fought recently since he's stepped up the comp: Formella, Vargas, Granados, Algeri. All have faced the upper echelon guys on PBC island. Broner is a trash-talker with name value, but he's no longer upper-echelon at PBC imo. Benn's current matchmaking leads to someone like Broner, not a Yelussinov or Ellis.

I hope Speedy isn't getting lost in the shuffle too. I can't say that GBP isn't getting him good match-ups, but he hasn't fought in a year.Last edited by kiaba360; 12-11-2021, 10:54 AM.Comment
