It's not about the weight, it's about the quality of the opponent.

Let's say a top middleweight fights a lousy journeyman heavyweight, the middleweight would win.

We should give Canelo a break, and only get on his case if he doesn't fight Benavidez by the year 2023. I see Eddie Hearn said 'what does Benavidez bring, he has no title?'.

Well Eddie, Benavidez brings a very substantial threat, a difficult challenge, that's what he brings, an addition to one's legacy if Canelo beats him.

My question is will Canelo be able to come back down to 168? I think Benavidez has to consider going to 175, especially if Browne beats Beterbiev! If he does not move up, he'll be sitting around waiting forever! Maybe Benavidez vs. Morrell Jr.???

It's better that Makabu comes in his regular fighting weight. It means he'll be consistently slower than LHW's, as his footage shows. Canelo has a good lean back while still on his feet for counters. That 1-2 feet head rolling back is what Canelo and Reynoso will gamble on, range. Make Makabu miss a lot which I believe he will. Makabu's team will strategize when to counter Canelo and bait him, but that's almost an impossible task to do given the speed of everything happening. Make Makabu pay by doing mistakes. This will be Canelo's toughest fight. Hitting a 220lbs mobile is not the same as the Heavy bag. He'll be able to get his shots in for sure, but Canelo has broken his before making mistakes with Liam Smith. Now granted he was severely dehydrated for Smith he lost some resistance with bone strength, it wouldn't be as bad now. Still, Canelo's going to be throwing rocket launchers on a huge heavy bag like Makabu. He needs to be careful not to injure any hand which could easily happen.

Canelo could come back down to 168 depending how big he will be in those months. If he's dedicated to compete at 175 there onward then I think he would be draining to make 168. Also the dynamics are different. Canelo isn't taking anabolic steroids nor will I imagine he would be as big as RJJ at HW. Back then there was no drug testing like today, so Canelo can't benefit from that undercover HBO era. RJJ was protected and given the best stuff to prep for Ruiz. The problem is that those PEDS ruined him in that process that it affected his body thereafter. No way could Canelo do what RJJ was doing back then. VADA is an advanced system compared to 1990s HBO steroid extravaganza. ''ripped fuel'' doe.

After the "tainted meat" incident with Canelo, and the "tainted tea" incident with Valdez, I don't put any faith in the WBC doing the right thing anymore!

GGG probably weak as a kitten before the fight and Canelo still required bought judges to win a fight he clearly lost, ask any boxing expert who won their first fight and they will all say Golovkin.

There is a point,in any sport in life were skill actually trumps size...This fight is akin to LeBron playing against a bunch if 6'8 high schoolers. Not impressed. Fight who you are supposed to fight, I know a few...

Seriously, who cares about weight limits. When the debacle was announced , 5 million people googled the name " Makabu " . Nobody is taking this fight seriously. Everyone knows it's just a paper title grab for Canelo.

Casuals and Alvarez fans cheer this fight, but most boxing fans want to see Canelo face a real threat, not an unknown African fighter who got demolished in less than 3 rounds.by Bellew.
