The best option is to sit out for a while, kinda like George Foreman did back in the day. I think Wilder is athletic enough to come back after a year or two layoff. Those blows to the head in Wilder/Fury II and III take quite a while to heal properly, but they can heal. The brain takes longer from severe trauma. The punch in round 3 of Fight III laid him down because it rekindled the trauma from the punches in Fight II. It takes time to heal past that trauma ... he wasn't far enough along healing in Fight III. Only his tenacity and strong will kept him in it through round 10 (dropping Fury in the 4th shows what a warrior this guy is even when wounded badly).
The HW will keep for a year or two. Wilder can train, get strong, heal, and watch and learn (as Foreman did) ... and come back still a devastating boxer. Earn some good money and maybe extend/expand his legacy. That would be the best and safest course to return IMO. It would also be a treat for all real fight fans ... Wilder will always be capable of excitng an arena and one of the true warriors of the game.
That said, if he decides to retire he certainly has earned his place in the annals of boxing. He would be a great commentator, and probably a valuable member of a training team. He could help many fighters in many ways. Like others his earned respect in the game will last forever.
