Lol everybody chill out he looked good but Morrison is a small D league heavyweight who feasted on ShoBox no names and has looked bad his last few fights. Don't forget what happened to Seth Mitchell when he actually fought a world class fighter he got sparked out and retired. He can probably reach the same level as that of Gerald Washington and Dominic Breazeale but I don't think a football player will become a world champion anytime soon.

Only way I can see that is if they boxed when they were younger and went back to it, they play in bursts and have a lot of rest time in between while they are playing their sport it's a bad transition not the same kind of energy maybe for power but over 12 rounds they are bound to gas out. I think basketball/soccer players would make better transitions due to their stamina and footwork but obviously this was in comparison with Heavyweights so soccer would be eliminated but you get the idea.

Combat sports in general have extremely thin talent pools compared to major ball sports, with HW usually having the smallest talent pool of all. So of course there are plenty of HW sized NFL/NBA guys who could potentially do okay if they switched. Boxing is not rocket science its punching people in the face. My only issue with the argument is that its used as a ready made excuse for when Americans arent doing so well, even though rugby, basketball, hockey etc take the lions share of athletic big men in other countries too, and the US still has multiple times more active pro HWs than anyone else.

Interesting fact Tommy Morrison only fought 5 guys coming off a win before he lost his first fight , Trey fought 4 but he only had 18 fights going into the last one .

Obviously Trey needed years to make up for his inexperience,he started boxing in his mid 20”s or so . You also can’t forge a chin , he was knocked down in his first fight so that was telling right there , what’s puzzling is how can anyone advise him to train near his hometown ? He was doing fine under Roach . He would have needed every advantage he can take so having him train with local guys is dodgy . He even had Tommy’s old trainer at one point for one fight and looked very good .

Seems to me the last brace of years he has had little interest in actually attempting to ascend to the top. He appears to have accepted his level as somewhat of the new butterbean.
