After the Floyd fight, Canelo fought Ángulo on PPV. The sale rate were ****tiey af, so they put him back on network TV. Point is, is tank isn’t selling enough PPV, they wouldn’t hesitate to place him back on regular Showtime.
You might try to get your facts straight, after the Angulo fight Alvarez fought Lara on PPV, you might be talking about HBO putting on Canelo vs Kirkland on regular network, that's because Canelo wanted that fight on non- PPV, everything after that has been on payed tv. Ellerbe wants Tank on PPV because so he can say he's a star, not because they are making a ton of money, I'm sure they make some, but this is all about perception, because they want him to be like his boss.
Bro there is enough illegal Mejicanos in Cali alone to hit those number..Mexicans will see one of their own against a chimpanzees and claim its an excellent step up for the brethren...tank is not doing bad with numbers..
Bro don't come to me with your racist tendencies, I'm here to talk boxing, not your insecurities.....
Yup - Sure to end in another cherry-picked b-level Hispanic fighter being ko’d by Davis in another huge ppv main event mismatch. Formula never changes…wont dare to be great and risk that 0. Why pay for the inevitable ko when it can be watched for free an hour later.

“It’s not just local. A lot of people in this sport think Tank just has “urban” fans, and we know what they’re trying to say. But he pulls a crowd wherever we go. We saw it even before he was headlining but then we got to see what he could do when he was the star of the show in (Carson) California nearly three years ago. Now we’re headed back to L.A. and it will be a star-studded event.”
Glad to see black America has figured out the code words white supremacists use. Keep on watching black brothers and sisters, we ***s had to learn the double speak as well. Never fail to point it out when you see it, let them know you know
El Tanque is a beast. The Paisa homies and Chicanos will come out to support Cruz but real recognize real. Tank isnt about playing touch butt in the ring and when you come to Cali you need to come correct to get respect. The Tank will earn his.

Facts! And you’re right….it’s all about perception. Floyd did the same thing on his rise to stardom…he repeated the same stuff, called himself “TBE”, etc. Nobody believe him but they challenged him and he remained consistent.
His consistency exposed a lot of fighters and the public just started to accept him being the face of the sport for that same reason- consistency.
If Mayweather Promotions keeps the Tank train going with guaranteed KOs and their word that he’s the biggest star in the sport, who do you think will this eat this up? Casuals, right? And so-called hardcore boxing fans complain about every other fight but they’re never too far from the tv when said fights are on.
I get it.
And you’re correct on Canelo…both the Angulo and Lara fights happened in March and July that year….we almost got a Clottey fight at the end of the year but one of them sustained an ankle injury I believe.
He carried those cards and brought in about 700k buys combined… it bad for a solo venture. And most think “good” ppv numbers are anything close to 1M buys and that’s so far from the truth.
It all depends on the fighter and the opponent….expenses could somewhat covered if the fight brings in, let’s say 250k. That may be a good number for a fighter getting his feet wet in the ppv market. Maybe that 250k is a good number overall for that fighter.

I’m black and I don’t fully agree with what you’re saying here. I’m aware of “double speak” if there is such thing as projecting and lack of self awareness.
I mean seriously….look at how Tank presents himself. Look where he’s from. Chains, tats, expensive clothing…nothing wrong with that, but you (not you exactly) can’t project this sense of “prejudice” when you present yourself a certain way.
Hell, a lot of fighters dress like “rappers”, “thugs”, “entertainers” etc. but that doesn’t necessarily speak to who they really are. We can throw some names out there like Spence, the Charlos, Berlangas, Haney, Broner, etc. Look at them and the average rapper…most wouldn’t guess they were fighters. I mean, what does a fighter look like? Most won’t know they’re in the presence of a fighter until they’re within arms reach (e.g., scar tissue around the eye, cauliflower ear, just to name a few). Not all black fighters dress that way though….Crawford, Porter, and a few others immediately come to mind.
Point is, most black fighters appear to be influenced by rap culture or urban entertainment in general. Hell, urban culture is more contagious than most would admit but we ALL know what comes with urban culture (e.g., violence, being portrayed as threat when you not be, ignorance, degeneracy).
Fortunately, I grew up in a home where we were got “the talk” about being “profiled” by local authorities and what would possibly hold me back from viewed in a positive light. We weren’t allowed to wear two earrings, visible tattoos, long hair (if it wasn’t maintained), don’t wear white t-shirts (that was an interesting time), don’t sag my pants, speak up, say yes ma’am and yes sir, maintain eye contact, etc).
I said all that to say, referring to this as double speak may be a tad bit of a reach. A tad bit. I’ve gone to a Tank fight and I can tell you what the crowd was like. I’ve been here in Atlanta for nearly 30 years, frequented several night clubs….it resembled a similar vibe. No biggie.
I’ve gone to fights headlined by Latino/Hispanic fighters and the crowds were different. I love what they’re doing with Tnak because it worked for a Floyd and appears to be working for Tank. They’re gonna have to get over the perception of that when we know everybody loves KOs….regardless of race…they just need to continue promoting him to ale sure his name ends up in everybody’s house.
Lol Leonard is constantly trying to skirt around the fact they have Tank fighting scrubs by constantly talking about what a PPV star he is, like we would be more impressed that he has beaten a bum cuz alot of ppl paid to watch him do it.
