Why does shawn porter get so much love?

He lost all his big fights

    Boring fighter

I keep seeing praise for "being nice". Wtf.

Such an overrated fighter and person.

When he had a fight to bite down and win he couldnt do it and had his daddy get him out of the fight

If anything than danny garcia should get more praise as he was the more excitibg fighter

Fought everybody, a nice humble guy and good commentator. I don't see how anyone can dislike this guy personally.

Cause he didn’t duck anyone, which is rare these days.

He isnt a boring fighter at all, he brings it. His fight vs spence was one of the very best, non stop action.

Well I would hope all he gets is love. Because every fan pretends like they just want the top 10 guys to fight each other, no matter what.

Some fighters did this in their career, and get a bunch of hate if they win, or look a little more than “just competitive”.

Fans love it when a fighter is flawed and fights everyone.

Shawn Porter did that, and, he was competitive in almost all of his losses. He hung with the best of his time.

He was even Pacquiao’s preferred sparring partner for a while, starting in 2009, before he became a top guy. The Fighter of the Decade does not choose you as a sparring partner for his biggest fights because you suck. According to Roach, while Porter was dropped a couple times by Pacquiao, he “came back and got Pacquiao real well” every time he got back up. And of course that was still a #1 P4P, #1 WW Pacquiao. And that was a relatively unknown Porter.

Shawn Porter used to post here too, not much, but he was verified as Shawn Porter. He made a thread here once. I think literally one thread, and he replied to a few posters. I believe his account name was Showtime Shawn, iirc.

Edit: This was his verified account.

He was never in any position to avoid fights. He and his dad tried to avoid Brook,
wanted more money in that fight, but didn't have the cooperation and backing of Haymon.
Al Haymon never liked them. I had no clue why. Porter never had those "side checks"
others receive to keep them from crossing the street. Even LSantaCruz had one of those.

Have you heard Ken and Shawn Porter thanking Haymon?

Ducked no one. Beat some quality fighters - Ugas and Danny G are top quality wins.

Clear top 3 WW. Is a handful for anyone, never seen anyone untroubled by what he brought in a fight aside from maybe Brook.

Always gives it his all, impeccable conditioning which he has to have to make up for his height and reach deficits he almost always has.

He's just shy of being great, a solid B+ fighter.

Lol he was never in any position to avoid fights?

That’s some BS. Any top fighter can duck other fighters without seeming like it. For example, all Crawford had to do to duck the entire 147lb division was join Top Rank. This put him in line to have only Manny Pacquiao as the most competitive fighter he will ever need to face.

He did not need to worry about fighting any other top welterweight.

If you want to duck the best of a weight class, avoid joining the promoter who has the most top 10 fighters. Porter did the opposite. He went where most of the top 10 welters were.
