Is Spence vs Crawford the best Welterweight fight since Leonard-Hearns?

I’m not talking from a financial standpoint or anything like that. I’m talking from a stylistic matchup. Two offensive minded fighters, both highly skilled technically, both undefeated champions, #1 and #2 in the division. It’s just such an intriguing fight IMO.

I’d be more excited for this fight than I was for Mayweather-Pacquiao, Pacquiao-Cotto, Trinidad-De La Hoya, De La Hoya-Whitaker, Whitaker-Chavez etc.

I was going to say Tito/DLH and Mayweather/Pacquiao and Sweet Pea/JCC in terms of just P4P.

But Crawford/Spence are both top 5-6 in every major list. Stylistically I just can't see the fight disappointing. I was thinking after the Porter fight that both may be a bit hesitant at times to go for it all but I actually think they will now. Both will be hurt at times, both will be out boxed at times and both will be facing adversity. Very intriguing considering we don't even know which stance Crawford will primarily use since he's fighting a southpaw.

Make it happen! On paper it is #1 vs #2 but.....Just kidding, I won't start that again on this thread lol.

This!!! That’s the main reason this matchup excites me so much. I think there’s various ways the fight plays out too.

With May-Pac or Pea-JCC we kind of knew how the pattern of fight would go. I didn’t expect Oscar to box how he did vs Tito but I don’t think any of us expected him to run away for the last 5 rounds.

Well, Pea and Mayweather were able to dictate the pace of the fight and were able to neutralize the aggressive fighter. DLH just boxed beautifully and did not want to make it into a brawl but just moved a bit more late in the fight.

This fight can't disappoint though. It is like DLH/SSM in a way. Like you just knew that fight would deliver and I know this fight will as well. Spence is going to have to turn it into a dog fight at times and fight like he did at the start of his career. Basically like what he was known for in sparring before his career took off. Crawford will allow you to take rounds off of him because he is now looking to land precise HARD shots to hurt you. Spence has to take at least four of the first six rounds and then weather Crawford's late round surge.

Like I said right after the Crawford/Porter fight, this fight is going to be extremely competitive and controversial in terms of who people think won the fight. They will have to run it back again.

Probably. The only other fight in the past 20yrs that wouldve been the same was:

Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Vernon Forrest at 147

Nah....not even close. Bud beats Spence imo. I can see Bud becoming undisputed at 47.

I don’t know. They’d first need to grow some balls and actually fight.

I think since Leonard-Hearns, the only fight that compares with popularity is Oscar-Tito, but in the end it didn’t live up to the hype and the ending was very blah.

Crawford/Spence has the opportunity of being up there with Leonard-Hearns as far as action. But without these guys being very eager to fight this fight is extremely close to being whatever on everyone’s mind. Crawford is on the verge of being past his prime and imo Spence is legit damaged goods. But with those two variables it can make for a great action filled fight.

You can’t be serious man? That fight was an afterthought considering what was at stake, wasn’t it on a B-Hop undercard or something like that?
