Kstan is like ancient Sparta. Boy babies are left outdoors for a week to see who will survive (girl babies get left out for two weeks).

        1. Aggression is their culture of sport. I saw a doc on YouTube once, about Judo around the world. Uzebkistan/Kazakhstan are geographically in the middle between Russia and Mongolia. So the culture is a blend of those primarily, and others to a lesser extent. If you look at the judo of those countries and then translate it to boxing, I don't think it;s a stretch to say it's similar. Here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hilwtKA6Zh8

        2. I swear they teach them as kids to box left, no matter what side they favor initially. Or maybe they just have a lot of left-handers. I haven't looked it up, but it's impossible not to notice how many of their fighters are southpaws.

        On the other hand:

I would say that, often, they trade aggressiveness for effective defense. A lof of these guys don't cover that chin like they ought to, but I still like their style.

EDIT: clarified statement about the link

Poverty, tradition of combat sports and a state-sponsored athletic program.
