Your conclusion might be right, but it was Cotto who insisted they fight at a catchweight. Cotto also insisted that the championship fight with Maravilla be at a catchweight. I don't know that Canelo believes he would lose to Beterbiev, a lot of people are picking Canelo to win that one, but the point of fighting at Cruiser is to capture the 5th belt. That would be a first for a Mexican. As for his ducking this guy or that guy because he hasn't fought them, to be consistent would you also agree that Charlo and Benevidez are ducking Beterbiev, Bivol, Smith, and each other? Would also you agree that Hagler ducked all the light heavyweights of his era?
Yeah because hagler went up and down in weight picking the weakest champions in weak divisions

It's funny how canelo decided to go up and fight Kovalev just fresh of kovalev being stopped numerous times and itching out a win against a novice in yarde whilst at times being ragdolled around the ring by him

Kovalev had looked extremely vulnerable and had lots of problems outside the ring

There's no way Canelo would have done what Andre Ward did and fight a prime kovalev

Canelo now has the options to wait for someone to get a vacated title in 4 weight divisions and pick the weakest champion to enhance his legacy

I don’t feel that he’s ducking anyone because i honestly feel he beats everyone including Beterbiev. He’s not eager to jump in there with him for sure it’s not the same as the Golovkin ducking he was doing back then. He has so many options now where as back then the fans only wanted one fight and he just kept fking around fighting Smith Khan, Chavez

i don’t see a problem with him taking this 1 off at CW. Dude just fought 4x in a year (which is unheard of these days) & beat 3 undefeated champs back to back to back& became undisputed. Let him have his tuneup. If after this one he pulls some bullshhh then let him get flamed like he deserves.
I see it like this.. let him have his easy tune up against a guy who is going to be leagues below skills wise...makabu is obviously stronger but to land any vicious shots on canelo he's going to need to be a lot faster than he is

So yes I'm cool with a tune up I'm not cool with people already trying to claim this is something great when in fact its a cherry pick in a weak division to make casuals eyebrows raise

No different than Broner vs Paulie. And look what happened once he fought a real 147lber.

But if Canelo fights someone good afterwards it shouldn't be no issue but if he never fights the obvious names that been floating around then it's gonna look bad imo
I think most people commenting on here have never watched Makabu fight. He is a very aggressive boxer puncher who has good body movement and fast hands. I think he probably under estimated Bellew as can happen - look at Kid Gallahad and Martinez last weekend or Mickey Garcia a few weeks ago.

The reality still remains that Hagler did not fight ANYONE above his weight class and it is still the case that Canelo beat one of the top three light heavyweights, beat all the champions at 168, and is scheduled to fight a top three cruiserweight. Roy Jones, my all-time favorite, did not fight the best heavyweight (Mike Tyson) when he won that crown. Does that detract from his accomplishment or merit scorn? Common now! Folks are free to hate Canelo but they should acknowledge a couple of things: 1) hating Canelo is a lucrative cottage industry making haters rich or at a minimum getsthem attention and 2) Rather than fighting each other Canelo's contemporaries are hoping that social media pressure will get them a Canelo payday.

            Look back through my posts

To me personally I thought Roy's biggest achievements were beating toney,Hopkins and his reign as a light heavyweight...I take the ruiz win with a pinch of salt....

Ruiz was the right size guy at the right time

It did nothing for me..props for the weight difference but ruizs level was below mediocre in a mediocre division at the time

now Canelo it's hard to debate because clearing out super middleweight sounds amazing

But the reality is the two weakest divisions are super middle weight and cruiserweight

Super middle has been in shambles since froch ward and kessler have retired

Once that happened all the belts were up for grabs and the main guy who came out on top was actually george groves (he accomplished the most)who was kod by froch twice

Groves is a great fighter don't get me wrong but the division was weak

Then comes along callum smith and he beats the crap out of a worn down over the hills groves with many miles on his clock in a still competitive fight

Then he became the best guy

Canelo the man who weighed 175 for trout eyes light up and here were are today

Cruiserweight has been left in shambles now that usyk has gone

Makabu was dominated and stopped looked leagues below bellew excluding one punch makabu landed

then was gifted a belt ..fought mediocre competition and canelos eyes are glowing ginger once again

Hahaha, the slime's practically dripping off this man, all I heard was "kerching".

Wants Canelo back like a man who's been on one date w/some woman ages ago, but still stalks her online.

I've been contemplating this actual scenario for 3 years.

The fact that Hearn's talking about it is tacit admission of what the rest of us already know: that HW has got not a lot going on, which is why we're even seriously talking about this hypothetical match up as a possibility now.

Just think how this tacit admission arrives despite how he and the other promoters (as you'd expect) try to convince us of the opposite; namely, that HW is high-quality.

If you consider what I'm saying to be true, then you may find it hilarious how these twin interests of promoting HW as a brilliant division, because he has a serious stake in it, and wanting the world's biggest boxing star back in business with him lead to this level of cognitive dissonance in Hearn

Having said all that, agree that Canelo could theoretically put Joshua down, along w/a lot of HWs. Also think he would be beyond ****** to try!

Hearn loses all credibility by saying “Trevor Bryan is a world champion”. Give me a break you low rent con man
