Comments Thread For: Crawford: I Feel Like They Using Porter As Steppingstone, Comparing Me And Errol's Performances Against Him

The good part about being able to easily make welterweight is that Terence Crawford figured time was on his side to land a big fight. It took for Shawn Porter to step up and accept the challenge to bring that vision to life for Crawford, with the two due to collide November 20 on ESPN+ Pay-Per-View from Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas. It wasn't the first choice of opponent for the switch-hitting, three-division and reigning WBO welterweight titlist. In fact, it was a fight that the two friends--outside the ring--frequently discussed as a failsafe in the event a bigger opportunity wasn't already secured.

Yea Terence, you said you and Shawn could fight if the Paquiao fight fell through. You didn't agree to the fight until the WBO made him a mandatory. You were on the way to fighting another in-house bum.

Sounds good, however if the WBO did not order the fight to happen, Shawn Porter was not going to be the opponent, even though Crawford did not get the Pacquiao fight!

WBO orders welterweight title fight for Terence Crawford, Shawn Porter
      July 22, 2021
      By Mike Coppinger

A fight with Porter, ESPN's No. 4 welterweight, would easily be the switch-hitter's most marquee to date. It could also be the final bout of his long-term partnership with Top Rank. Crawford's deal with the promoter has one fight remaining on the contract, sources told ESPN.

Before this action from the WBO, Crawford, 33, was offered a fight with rugged contender David Avanesyan, per sources, a bout that was being eyed for Oct. 23. Atlanta was a potential location.

With the WBO surprisingly ordering the bout, attention will now turn to Porter.

Radical suggestion I know - but why not just fight Spence? Figures he was trying to fight an old Pacquiao instead. Always going for the big names with low risk...

He's under pressure. Guy seems terrified to face real stiff competition. The only reason fans wanted you & Shawn Porter is because it was the next best option after Errol Spence Jr car crash. Fans wanted to see you in there with the best welterweights. It has nothing to do with you viewing Porter as a stepping stone.

Another thing, he constantly says he was calling for these fights. Anyone can call for a fight but wat are YOU doing to make these fights happen? You're the one with the promoter who goes back and forth constantly lying to the public.

“I feel like he got caught up in the media, everyone saying, ‘Oh, you should fight Terence.’
Tim Bradley was the only 'media' calling for it. Lying mofo

That's what happens when the two supposedly best welterweights are in no rush to fight each other .There's no excuses they have had plenty of opportunity , they both say 'lets fight' and it would have been made.

Damn! Such a bland personality! While he's a sweet guy and could fight but yet he still lacks charisma. There is absolutely no buzz about him at all.
