That's the story of his career. Literally picks the worst or the most shot champion to fight. Or just a tomato can.

What a bs fight, it's appearing more and more like a touring circus with this clown. Got around the real champ at 168 who lost his belt on the scale. Then fights for the belts with champs that Benavidez would have beaten to deny him the undisputed title and now this bs. Running as fast as he can from Benavidez.

The same thing would happen to Makabu as his result against Bellew. He'd get knocked out.

The same Makabu that took a paid dive against Bellew.
I know who my moneys on.

All this weight talk and no one in boxing mention that these should be the logical opponents if Canelo wants to move up in weight.

After how much he was missing and getting hit against Plant, his team decided he was gonna lose eventually if they kept fighting young faster guys at 168, especially Benavidez because he throws a lot of punches and is too dangerous and risky, so Canelo would be better off fighting someone slow with bad balance who'll be wide open and easy to hit, and on top of that, he actually has a belt, so it's another thing for the record books, so it's a win-win for the team.
                    Makes a lot of sense.

But most middleweights would be more skilled than most Cruiserweights.

And they don't usually step up to fight them for good reason.

If we extend the logic, why aren't more light heavyweights jumping at the chance to get at the slow heavyweights?

I am dubious of the stipulations surrounding this fight, regarding the actual weight 'That the fight will be fought at'.

And I am also dubious of the opponent, and whether he is actually going to come to win 100%.

I hope Canelo Alvarez fights Ilunga Makabu at the 200 pound limit, and there are no other clauses which could affect the performance of his opponent.

Overall, I don't even think this is a good fight in terms of a event or a spectacle 'I don't compare this to Roy Jones Junior moving up to face John Ruiz'. Roy Jones Junior was taking on a bigger risk and challenge in my opinion.

As other people have mentioned, there where bigger fights for Canelo Alvarez at 168 pounds vs David Benavidez and at 175 pounds against some of the champions there. Actual fights with genuine rivalry and spite between the two opponents.

Ilunga Makabu is probably going to turn up to the first press conference for this fight, and want a picture with Canelo Alvarez 'Just being in the fight is probably a win for him'. I don't highly rate David Benavidez or some of the other guys at 175 pounds 'But all of those fighters don't care about who Canel Alvarez is, and they want to viciously beat him up'.

Ilunga Makabu was ****** out by Tony Bellew inside 3-4 rounds. If Alvarez wins this fight, he is in no way 'He should in no way be mentioned in the same context as David Haye, Evander Holyfield or Oleksandr Usyk.

I am going to be honest, I don't like the fight 'I just hope it is a 100% genuine contest, no games surrounding the weight or anything else'.
