How much more time does Gervonta have?

How much time does he have before fans start getting tired of the easy touches?

I don’t care to hear about how good his past opponents supposedly are, or how he destroyed them, or about boxing politics holding him back.

Im asking how long can Mayweather Promotions keep putting up the PPV before they start to see the decline in purchases, assuming his opposition remains at the same caliber?

He’s 27, and imo has 4 years left of prime in him. I consider 31 to be when the slow decline begins…just my opinion.

Me personally? I think he has until he’s 30 years old before his fans start bypassing his PPV and stop listening to Nostril Ellerbe’s excuses. After 30 the pressure will be on to deliver.

You don’t want another Vargas against Tito or Canelo against Mayweather, throwing them into the fire at such a young age….but then you don’t want another Crawford. Where Crawford has let his entire career go by without enough names on his resume to have a legacy behind him.

Every fighter I’ve ever been a fan of, there is that moment that you know is coming, when he’s about to face a legit opponent for the first time, and that’s the glorious moment because you believe in him, and can’t wait to see him succeed so you can celebrate alongside them.

I’m a Tank fan but he’s had a terrible year opponent wise. Barrios is a fringe top 10 guy at 140 and Cruz is a fringe top 10 guy at 135.

He needs to step things up in 2022!

I think in 2022 Tank has to fight one of the other big names at 135- Loma, Garcia, Haney or Teo, if he doesn’t move to 140:

I expect Tank to fight 3 times.- Rolly ( assuming his situation gets cleared) and GRjr moving up ( huge fight in the DMV area) would Be in house fights he should win in spectacular fashion.

I think pressure and criticism will come and then he fight one of the top LW’s, most likely Loma.

I'd like to see Tank focus on one weight division. If he can still make 135 without issue, I'd think that would be ideal although the politics might not be ideal. Junior welterweight is just too big for him in my opinion. Sure he can fight one-off bouts against guys like Barrios but what does that accomplish? Not to say he can't beat the top guys at 140 but he'd be facing some physical disadvantages.

If he focuses on 135, I'm not sure how many names are out there that aren't tied to other rival promotions (TR and GBP). As I was reminded yesterday, Haney is technically a free agent but I don't see that clash happening anytime soon....have a feeling it will marinate.

Considering that a lot of boxers in this era really don't come on until about 30-31. He has plenty of time.

Just for reference. Crawford is 33 and Spence is 31, and they still haven't had a career defining fight in their careers. Usyk is 34 and it wasn't till he was 30 that he made a name for himself (undisputed cruiser champ, winning the boxing series). GGG didn't make a real name until 32 and Lomachenko won his first title at 26 but wasn't the "bogey man" until 30 years old. The most entertaining part of Canelo's career has come at 28-31 years old.

So, I'd say Gervonta has plenty of time.

Even his biggest fans would love to see him fight Teofimo or [insert any top level boxer here] but Gervonta has time. He's fought 2x this year.

So, we could at least expect 2 fights minimum a year but I'm thinking maybe 3 fights next year. With one being an elite opponent.

These other guys are going to have to bow down negotiations wise. Mayweather Promotions has made it clear anybody that wants to fight Tank is going to have to come to Showtime to get the fight. That goes for Teo, Ryan Garcia, Devin Haney, and Loma too. You’ve seen it with Canelo and all these other fighters as well. Winning the fight isn’t good enough. You also have to dominate at the negotiations table as well.
