Agreed that Canelo is a Vegas fighter abs the showtime connections will win out. ATT is in Dallas I think but either Dallas or Houston and it’s a massive fight
If Canelo keeps fighting in showtime which I think he will, they will stick to fighting in Vegas, they did great with this Plant fight and they will do great against Charlo and Benavidez.
Moving the fight to Houston to the AT&T Stadium would be very cool as I'm more a fan of fights with huge crowds but it would take a huge loss on money generated as tickets have to be priced at lower value and also people are not spending money on the casinos.
All big fights belong to LV because that's where the business makes mroe sense.Comment

Plant looked like a top guy vs Truax, not so much vs Uzcategui and an even less against Alvarez.
Alvarez looked like the man vs Plant, not so much against Golovkin.
You have to put a fighter's wins in context.
There are levels to the game.Comment

Great take on the Canelo-Plant fight. Really knows their boxing to see the little nuances of the fight and not be giddy or bias about it.
I don't agree with the Shakur Stevenson stuff.
I don't think he has it in him to beat all those guys or a healthy chunk of those guys. He's honestly somewhat like the Plant comparison. How Plant was compared to Malignaggi except with a bit more athleticism.
That's Shakur to me.
He may be imitating "Pretty Boy" Floyd. You see it in the way he takes the gather step, the wide base, his punch selection, the way he darts in and out, all that stuff that made "Pretty Boy" Floyd a force to be reckon with.
The difference is that Shakur doesn't have that pop. Doesn't have the same ring IQ. Doesn't really have the same athleticism, both natural and honed. Floyd was a different animal. He'd throw that gazelle punch and it'd go through guys. He hit Corrales with it and downed him. Hit Gatti with it and shelled him up in the same way Canelo shelled up Plant. Floyd at that weight had a kind of punch that penetrated the body. He didn't just hit you, he hit through you.
I don't see that from Shakur. He doesn't have that to him. He's going through the motion but lacks the same nuanced substance. So, it's a bit of fool's gold there.
With Herring, the guy overwhelmed him with the variety. Hit him from different areas and used that clever step. But I think he doesn't get the same when/if he faces Teofimo, Gervonta, Garcia, Haney etc. Actually, there is a video of Haney-Shakur sparring and even in that, you can see Shakur is a lot more clever than Haney (higher boxing iq for sure) but the natural power, hand speed, its in Haney's favor.
The problem when you imitate that kind of style is, there is a lot to be punished with if you don't have the gifts to put a dent in the elite boxers. Pretty much like Plant or even Malignaggi, like in the example given. Shakur, in my opinion, isn't too far off from being a good boxer but just not having that extra force to beat the truly elite.
But I could be proven wrong. I just don't see it right now. (but I though the same of Tank and that guy certainly surprised me and made me a fan tbh. he's more than I thought he was.)
