Yup, he was on that back foot 99% of the fight. If he was trying to win, I cannot understand how he thought that was possible throwing virtually no meaningful punches the entire fight.

These guys talk big then are happy with a moral victory.
Fight wasn’t close and it was just a matter of time before he got dropped.
Went exactly how I said it would here for months. He danced and got some style points early but he didn’t have the power to bother Canelo.
Once he ate some counters he was more worried about avoiding damage and set himself up for the KO.

I don't expect Mr. Plant to be able to improve himself enough to make a difference unless and until he learns a bit of humility. He should have said, "Canelo Alvarez was the better fighter, took the best I had to give, and then he put me on my back. I will watch the video, try my best to learn from my mistakes, and give it another shot as soon as I can."

And he should not have tried to rattle Alvarez with schoolboy insults and ****** language. What does that help anyway? Trash talk won't rattle a guy who's been in as many high-profile contests as Alvarez.

Sports can offer lessons in life for everyone: Don't insult people. Watch your language. Be humble. Do your bragging after the fight, not before. Learn from your mistakes. Get up and try again, only smarter next time.

Resumes aren't everything and fighters shouldn't be written off after one loss in a very competitive fight to a top P4P at the peak of their careers.
Regardless of outcome Plant showed he is a quality operator. He didn't shame himself but I guess some people love to kick a guy when he's down.

I thought he could have done a few things better but honestly felt it was a great performance and he gave Canelo a very tough fight, one of the toughest of his career and that is vs a peak Canelo. There was nothing easy about that and nobody else is having it easy with him either, that guy can box with the best of them.

He wasn't trying to win because he knew he couldn't. He was fighting for 10 million survival dollars. Nothjng else. Hell this idiot should have just laid down in the 4th and called if a night.

these sort of comments shows the mentality of the 168 fighters, thinking theyve proved themselves at top level by going a few rounds with canelo and maybe nicking 1 or 2. there was no real effort or belief he could win, no real game plan apart from not getting stopped early. the fight was lost in his head before he even stepped in the ring.

There comes a certain point in 1s career where the lack of power is going to be detrimental. Plant has the athleticism to be a title holder again at 168 and maybe 175 but he will never be Lineal Champ.

That's a big "like" for mentioning Audi Murphy, most decorated soldier ever! That's a real one, but kids don't know anything about him these days. I'm gonna look up that doc and show it to my kids tonight.
